Stupid idea.
If resurecting an outadated culture like UQUB is good, why don't she freaking start a donkey UBER.
With the technology we have now only a dumb a'ss put money in UQUB when it is easier to just deposit ones money and withdraw it at will, with a lawful banking procedures?
What happens if a mother fu*cker crook like say the agames get the first installment and disappears or some one dies after collecting his share and yet has to pay their dues for the next unlucky later recipients?

Cigar, you don’t have to be rude and insulting if you don’t like her idea. Equb in Ethiopia is still huge and used widely including in cities like Addis. The reason is mainly two fold. First is to facilitate a loan to mostly statups who can’t get loans from a bank. Banks normally demand collateral i.e. a house, land, a business etc. as a guarantee to give out loans which most start ups don’t have. Secondly equb forces people to be disciplined in paying back your monthly rate. Equb enabled many startups to do business that otherwise would have
never got the money from banks.
I agree the app creators need to make sure people are accountable and the process is legally binding. This is true especially for public equbs but the app also helps manage private equbs that is traditionally run by people you know. In this regard and in enabling electronic transaction, it is a great help.

Tamari, sorry for my nastiness. It is hard to track new tricks to an old dog, even though I became so becuse of them filthy agames.
In any case, I sill believe UQUB is a stupid outdated culture.
There is no law which can be upheld unless it is recognized lawful institutions.
If one needs a start up endeavour, the friends or family members of the UQUB participants should honesty help the person in need.

እቁብ በጣም የተራቀቀ ባህላዊ አስራር ነው።
መጀመሪያ እስከሶስት ዙር ድረስ ማንም ገንዘብ አይወስደም ። ለመጠባበቅያ ማለት ነው። አንድ ስው ሶስት ግዜ እቁብ መጣል አለበት እቁብ ከመድረሱ በፊት በዚያ ላይ ዋስ አምጣ ይባላል ያልበላ መሀበረተኛ ዋስ ሊሆነው ይገባል ። ሌላው ደግሞ አንድ ስው ካልከፈለ ለሚለው ነው።
ለምሳሌ መቶ ስዎች አሉ መቶ ብር ይጥላሉ እንበል ከማሀላቸው አንዱ ካልከፈለ ፱፱ ብር ይሆናል ማለት ነው ስለዚህ ሁሉም አንድ አንድ ብር በመጣል ፱፱ ብሩን መቶ ብር ያረጋሉ ። ማለትም ፻ ብር ከመጣል መቶ አንድ ብር በመጣል ያ ያልከፈለውን ሰው ይተካሉ ማለት ነው። ዘይግቶ የሚገባ ካለ ደግሞ ያንን ስው የሚከፍል የነበረውን ውጭ ከፍሎ ይገባል ማለት ነው።
