La disinformazione è l’ultima pericolosa arma rimasta in mano alle élite tigrine e ai suoi alleati che non hanno accettato il cambiamento di governo in Etiopia guidato dal Premio Nobel per la Pace Abiy Ahmed. Il periodico “The Week” è l’ultima vittima di questa raffica di fakenews diramate subdolamente da quel che resta del TPLF, il Fronte di Liberazione Popolare del Tigrai, il partito dell’ex Primo Ministro Meles Zenawi e dell’attuale Direttore Generale dell’OMS Tedros Adhamon.

Del resto, questa è una storia antica: in un’epoca in cui i giornalisti viaggiano poco, in assenza di testimonianze dirette si riportano le notizie riferite da una parte o dall’altra. E molto spesso sono soltanto false notizie. Così, in questa guerra propagandistica chi ci rimane di frequente nel mezzo sono le ONG, utilizzate in maniera strumentale. In altri casi invece sono addirittura le grandi organizzazioni umanitarie internazionali a venire strumentalizzate.

Le notizie riportate in buona fede da “The Week” sul Tigrai sembrano proprio figlie di queste logiche perverse della propaganda. Altri media arrivano addirittura ad accusare gli eritrei di macchiarsi di orribili crimini nel Tigrai contro la popolazione civile e in particolare contro le donne quando tutti sanno e riconoscono che l’etica e il senso di solidarietà e di responsabilità del Fronte Popolare di Liberazione Eritreo ha forgiato negli ultimi 30 anni un popolo che si distingue per senso civico e rispetto altrui e che viene spesso preso ad esempio non solo in Eritrea ma nei paesi dove esiste una importante diaspora. In particolare l’Eritrea è riconosciuta per il ruolo che hanno avuto le donne nella lotta di liberazione nazionale conquistandosi la considerazione degli uomini eritrei che hanno finito per essere educati a rispettarle e al concetto di parità. Affermare che eritrei rubano nel Tigrai quando la storia ci insegna che gli eritrei hanno aiutato, senza chiedere niente in cambio, paesi per esempio come il Rwanda, la Democratica Repubblica del Congo, il Sudan del Sud e la Somalia per esclusivo senso di solidarietà, non è solo falso ma criminale.

Mentre vendevano l’immagine di un governo stabile che pensava solo alla crescita e allo sviluppo dell’Etiopia, preparavano la secessione del Tigrai e delle altre regioni etiopiche sfruttando i conflitti etnici e acquistando ingenti armi da concentrare nel Tigrai con la scusa della minaccia eritrea che veniva regolarmente alimentata ad arte.

Non si può in effetti non ricordare come i tigrini, quando ancora comandavano ad Addis Abeba, avevano fatto trasferire a casa loro più del ’80 per cento degli armamenti nazionali. Un gesto furbo e alquanto arrogante che puntava di fatto a mantenere il controllo delle forze armate per dominare il resto dell’Etiopia e l’intera regione, compresa l’Eritrea. Per capire la situazione attuale dell’Etiopia e del Tigrai non si può poi prescindere da quello che è successo il 3 novembre scorso. L’attacco ostile ordito dal TPLF contro tutte le posizioni e le basi militari del Comando Nord dell’Etiopia contro il quale il Premier Abiy ha dovuto opporsi è stata la causa della situazione che il governo etiope con fatica e dedizione sta cercando di gestire nel Tigrai. E tutte le persone di buona volontà dovrebbero sostenere gli sforzi del governo etiope ad aiutare le popolazioni locali a riprendere in mano il loro destino dopo essere stati liberati dai terroristi del Tplf, che dopo 20 anni di gestione affaristica e despotica del potere, stanno ancora tentando, con il sostegno dei loro vecchi amici e con tutti i mezzi a disposizione in Occidente, di salvaguardare il loro obiettivo di distruggere l’unità dell’Etiopia per mantenerne l’egemonia anche a costo di creare danni e perdite al loro stesso popolo.

Per chi avesse voluto capire come stavano veramente le cose, sarebbe bastato rileggere i vari discorsi pubblici che Abiy ha fatto prima di intervenire nel Tigray. Appelli reiterati anche dai canali televisivi, ma caduti nel vuoto nel Tigrai non per reale volontà della popolazione ma perché le élite hanno voluto resistere fino alla fine.
