Egypt hires $800000 DC lobby to shape Biden policy against Ethiopia

Finfinnee (Yeroo) — The Egyptian government has reportedly hired a powerful Washington DC lobbying team to shape US policy of the new President Joe Biden administration, most notably to oppose the Ethiopian hydroelectric dam. The lobby firm named Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck will allegedly receive nearly $800,000 for one year of service.

The pro-Egypt lobbyist team are led by former US congressman Ed Royce and Egyptian-American Nadeam Elshami, who was a former staff member of Nancy Pelosi, the current Speaker of the US House of Representatives.

Congressman Ed Royce was notably the Chairman of United States House Committee on Foreign Affairs in 2019 before officially becoming Egyptian lobby in November 2020.

During the previous Trump administration, Egypt was also able to successfully persuade the United States government to suspend 130 million in much needed aid to Ethiopia; while millions continue to need humanitarian aid, particularly after a rebellion in the northern state of Tigray triggered a new conflict. Meanwhile, Egypt has continued to receive over $1.3 Billion annual aid from the United States, including the latest American military aircraft and weaponry.

Since Climate Change is a top issue for the new Biden administration of the Democrat Party, the former US Congressman-turned-Egyptian Lobby has reportedly begun disseminating false accusations that the Ethiopian dam is a major threat to the environment, without providing credible evidence. According to the non-profit organization OnTheIssues.org, Congressman Ed Royce did not have a record of protecting the environment when he was in US government: as he repeatedly voted in favor of oil drilling and deregulation of greenhouse gas emissions inside the United States.

Recently, the Egyptian government of President El-Sisi has spoken in favor of the Sudanese military confrontation along the Ethiopian border. The Ethiopian government spokesman Dina Mufti said the fractured leadership in Sudan is being pressured by Cairo to escalate tensions and Ethiopia does not want war.

Ethiopia contributes 86% to the Nile however it uses 0 percent. Egypt uses 66%, Sudan 22% and 12% is lost to evaporation. Nearly 99% of the Egyptian population has electricity, while only about 30% have electricity in Ethiopia.

Along with the AG- Ethiopian Fed. Police unveiled breathtaking evidence of planning, coordination & overt acts in Tigray. If proven, it will be hard to overcome in court for TPLF leaders facing treason related charges.

Fed. police has identified 253 suspects, including retired and active military leaders and 96 top TPLF leaders who created a clandestine group to take control of the country. 124 suspects arrested, many killed during the operation, others are wanted as fugitives from justice.

Among evidence seized is a 90 page document that details the group’s plan, organization and execution that envisioned TPLF marching on Addis Ababa and removing the federal government within 3 months.

Concerted effort was made, to destabilize various regions. Key top leaders were assigned, to oversee the subversive operations and attacks on civilians in each region. Evidence collected include documents recovered fm TPLF offices, security offices & homes of suspects.

Among the seized documents, several docs entitled “Amhara Project” “Afar Project” “Gambella Project” “Benshangul Project”, detail planned and executed subversive activities. The docs detail allocated budgets, personnel & logistics, money spent to purchase arms & other activities.

TPLF used five separate training camps to train and arm insurgents, and return them to their respective regions. Evidence was corroborated and verified through investigation and witness statements, from about 600 people interviewed

The group also sent letters to foreign governments including Donald Trump, UN Security Counsel, EU, France and other nations and Int’l entities. These letters were signed by the group’s leader: Debrestion.

Further direct contacts were made with foreign govts and organizations, through Addisalem Balema. He also made contact with an armed insurgency group, and made daily reports to Debrestion and former Ethiopia security chief Getachew Assefa.

Several 100's of millions of birr and gold was withdrawn from Commercial Bank for use in the planned operation and handed over to region’s finance head Daniel Assefa, brother of Getachew Assefa, pursuant to authorization letter signed by region’s deputy head Abraham Tekeste.

Daniel Assefa was killed, during the campaign. (Tekeste and Balema are in custody). The people who were involved in the withdrawal of funds, were interviewed and verified that some of the fund was sent to various fronts. Some, was seized by the govt.

The plan included coordination with TPLF Diaspora supporters, use of funds from TPLF affiliated corporations to hire foreign lobbyists to lobby US Senators, hire journalists, pay bloggers and activists and launch a coordinated effort to garner int’l support.

Getachew Assefa played a prominent role as head of security of the group, presented the final agenda to start the war some 7 days prior to Nov. 3 for final decision by the group. Evidence seized from last meeting, showed the agenda item was approved by signatures.

MaiKadra suspects 256 individuals. 137 suspects arrested. Remaining suspects’ identity is known. Federal police is working with Interpol and will work with foreign governments, to capture and extradite suspects.

244 witnesses, provided accounts of massacre. The evidence showed the killing was planned as early as 10 days before the incident, when a police chief held a meeting at the town.
