Due to relentless brain-washing, "the golden race", "the invincible" battle hardened fascists could not see the world for what it is. Because their propaganda was designed to be irrational and emotional jingoism, the moderates within TPLF lost any chance to get the upper hand. They all had no choice but to submit to their most psychopathic elements.
As expected, their extremists forced them to bite more than they could chew. And the rest we all know what happened.
Although in the end TPLF demagogues destroyed TPLF, I did see a very similar role for them in the destruction of TPLF in a less bloody and humiliating way.
There was a time when the Amharu, Oromo and other activists were almost on the same page against TPLF. That time was when we saw Jawar Mohamed et al going to Bahrdar and Nigusu Tilahun and other returning the favor. Around this time everybody was uniting around the idea that Getachew Assefa was #1 criminal and TPLF should give him up.
If this line of pressure on TPLF was kept up, TPLF would've been easily broken into two major camps. The "Golden Race" fascists being the ones who would be opposed to handing over the criminal. Ethiopians could have sided with the moderate TPLFites and get rid of the cancers without too much death and destruction.
But TPLF chose to go with the "Jawar Mencha" propaganda and successfully drove a wedge between the Amharu and the Oromo.
The irony was this very wedge brought about a more terrible end to their system. Now that the Amharu and Oromo looked like they are at each other's throat, the TPLF extremists were seen as gods amongst men. Unfortunately it ended up being a terrible and horrible mistake for all involved
