Ato/Adde Ethoash said once that he/she is the top economist of Mereja-Forum or even of Ethiopia, if not of the whole world.

I heard today on ETV some people complaining about the service fee they used to be levied to get issued a simple ID card used to be about 5 or 10 ETB before now 80 Birr, how should that happen in a country like Ethiopia, where everything should have been all right, they complained and added that the government should help them.

I think it used to be 5 or 10 Birr during Derg (Communism) time, at that time 1 $ used to cost something about 2 - 3 Birr, if I remember well. Today, 1 $ is around 40 Birr, 3 $ is easily around 120 Birr.

If you forget the dollar, a foreign currency, then you can also take a quintal of Teff, that used to cost during those days something like 40 or so Birr. Today probably over 5000 Birr, a bare (sanga) used to cost around 200 or 300 Birr, today it costs over 20 K Birr, a rise/inflation of about 600 to 1000 folds.

The ID fee just increased about 8 folds, in comparison.

Those people who are complaining don't understand that they are already saving something like 40 Birr today (in the case of $ comparison) but still complain about everything getting costly, before they rush to their Facebook to "Share" or "Like" the story.

Please, the top Economist, enlighten our people the paper value of the money in their hands is not the same as the real value it has got. They are complaining while they are saving if they just take the real value of the money in their pocket into consideration.

Complain, complain and complain but at the same time sit around idle and never try to be productive and stay a burden to the country you call your own home.

This is a lose.

The “National Biometric Registration System” ensures the identification of identities via DERMALOG AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System). The possibility for “1:N matching” (matching against a whole data base) complements the range of functions. De-duplication and data collection take place from a central location in Cambodia via DERMALOG AFIS.

Cambodian citizens, whose data was already collected for the ID Card, benefit during ePassport application as data already stored can be used. In this way, processes are simplified resulting in faster document issuance. By now, the issuing of an ePassport is possible within a very short period of time. Furthermore, a prioritization, using a VIP list, is possible when issuing.

The Border Control Solution works with servers, which are exclusively located in Cambodia. At border crossing staff members scan the fingerprints, the face is captured via camera, ticket and passport are scanned as well.

What is going on here? You asked a question, our resident economist answered it eloquently. I bet the Chinese are using such system to only have less than 5000 death reported of Covic-19.

Seriously, this system can start being implemented on the new "goldon territory"; I mean Tigrayan Administration can use it as a pilot project. A lot of things are starting afresh there. Such system can track TPLF "goldon" from the rest for one.

The same thing in Oromia; after EDF completes cleaning up the OLF/Shene abused area, DERMALOG can start being implemented there.

The concern is, is it ethical? Can this system be trusted in the hands of unelected type governments?

Has the resident economist thought about the "ethical" side of the subject?
