Yes! According to the prophet of Islam teachings backed by contemporary renowned historians narration about 30 companions among them his daughter Rokia sought shelter in abyssinia fleeing the onslaught of the Quresh tribe.
Months later most of them returned back to Medina መዲና, the town of the first hijra in which its inhabitants welcomed the prophet singing [TelaAlbedru Aleina].
Medina is universally acknowledged as the birth place of Islam.
