With a day left before the deadline approaches, TPLF forces have also been seen frantically digging trenches throughout the city and surrounding areas. They are hoping they can holdout in Mekelle long enough to begin negotiations that will leave them in a power sharing position with the Federal government, which was their plan from day 1. They just never expected to be routed in the battlefields to this extent, nor did they expect Abiy to hold firm on his no negotiations position.
