No, Halafi. No one should and will be forced to learn a second language to work in Addis Abeba. In fact, no one should be forced to learn second language to work in the federal government in Addis. This an ill-conceived idea. Addis Abebeans not fall for it. Learning other language than one was not born in to is a good thing. It is commendable. But the federal government forcing it is totalitarianism in action.
When the federal government thinks it knows it all, designs social engineering to influence people thinking and action, it is the beginning of implanting totalitarianism. It must be stopped.
Democracy flourish in people’s free will, not in government mandate.

I think the right procedure to go is to FIRST adopt the legal official working language in the city, which then can necessitate the requirements for an employment in the civil services' sector of the city.

Right now Addis Ababa doesn't have an additonal (adopted) official working language in its administrative constituency. So, there is no way that someone can ask me to speak any of the many different languages spoken in the country in the city, when it is not required to do my job in my responsibilty as a civil servant.

It is simply another front of opening up a propganda against those in the office, the endless propaganda.

I can see what could be possible in the future that (an) additional language(s) could be adopted at the federal or regional levels as official working languages and then the different authorities will have to adhere to the lagal provisions in their respective constituencies and require from me to speak the adopted language of the respective constituency.

Kichamam Woyane - "ዶሮ ብታልም ጥሬዋን" You don't waste a day without mentioning the Heavenly, do you? Did you dream last night about flying to Addis and have a fun night in Bole or was it a dream about kayaking on Tana?
Red-eyed dryland Woyane rat - That will only happen when a cow learns to fly. Stay in your Dedebit hole and keep drooling on becoming like the Heavenly and Eritreans - TPLF rats' wish of becoming when they grow up. KIFU!

Whether you are required to speak another language to get employed in the capital city of a country of over 80 or so different languages officially or not, Afan Oromo is already a defacto working language in the city or its very near sub-districts. Who can deny that?

Laga Xaafoo Laga Daadhii are city suburbs of the capital city, I think, pssibly favoured by the city's well to do section of the society for their residences (I am not sure if the place is under the formal administrative authority of the city) but no one can dispute that Afan Oromo is officially used to accomplish the official business of this and many other similar sub-districts of the city.

That is what I said before indicating if Addis Ababa is coming to us (to where we are), then why do we need to go to Addis Ababa in the first place?

Abiy is now peeing if not mistaken. The likely way is Addis Ababa will be given to Amhara. From what I saw in Addis Ababa right now, gallas are scared the Addis's residents to the bone. You can't see Galla's police like before in large numbers. Even, if you taunted them, they prefer mute. Everywhere you go gallas are shaking. If violence erupted, for sure gallas will be eaten.

The other scenario is war could erupt between galla and Amhara. This could be a blessing. Well, I am confident gallas will be chased out of Addis no matter what.
