Head Coach Haile Alemseghed eager for more International ties to improve team

Eritrea’s national team head coach Efrem Haile Alemseghed has said he cannot wait to see the national team play many more international matches.
We are happy that last year we played several matches in the World Cup qualifier and the Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup. But building a strong team needs more competitive matches,
added Haile.

Eritrea’s national team also known as the Red Sea Boys showed tremendous improvement when they reached the final of the 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup losing to hosts Uganda Cranes in Kampala last December.
We need to build from where we stopped last year where we performed well in the regional Cecafa tournament. Players become better with more top quality games,
reasoned the coach.

He also made it clear that the emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic has had a big negative effect on football in the country because activities have been suspended.
I would be happy if we had some Cecafa tournaments later in the year so that our players can be able to get more international match practice,
said Haile.

He maintained that the national team’s second-place finish at the 2019 Cecafa Senior Challenge Cup is a testament to how football has grown in the country. He said Eritrea had taken long without participating in the regional tournament, but finishing second gave a clear picture of steady improvement.

Cecafa under the new leadership of Wallace Karia, have planned to have nine tournaments this year. But the region could now have only the two CAF Championship qualifiers for the U-17 and U-20, and perhaps a women’s tournament.

Eritrea Horse Breeding centre
Eritrea is highly suitable, for horse breeding & equestrian races. Currently, the MoA is reviving and strengthening the horse breeding centre in Asmara.

Dongola horse

The Dongola or Dongolawi is a riding horse native to Sudan and to western Eritrea and Ethiopia. Although its name suggests, it does not originate from the Dongola region.[1] It is strongly linked to the Barb horse and also bears resemblances to the Arab horse and is estimated to be partly descended from the Iberian horse during the 13th century. Many sub-breeds and crossbreeds are recognized across western Africa, many of them are small, resembling the Poney Mousseye.

Dongola

Other names: Dongolawi
Country of origin: Sudan, Nubia (western Eritrea and Ethiopia)

Traits

Distinguishing features: Height 1.52–1.55 m

Equus ferus caballus

Characteristics

The breed has a convex profile, with a usually deep, reddish bay coating, though sometimes chestnut or black with common white markings on the face and lower leg.[1]

History

In 1772 the King of Sennar, Muhammad bin Jibril Anabwani, (in Sudan) obtained horses of the Dongola breed described as being very fine in quality, as strong as coach horses but light and free in their actions.[1] During the Italian-Abyssinian War, the entire Abyssinian (Ethiopia) cavalry was equipped with the Dongol horses, which were excellent riding horses.[2] Therefore, these horses were imported to Ireland, where they were used to create a lighter version of the Hunter horse. The Germans also conducted similar experiments as well.

The renaissance of the Eritrean economy is imminent, regardless of the expected loathing and antipathy from certain powers.

Danakali flags improvements to Eritrea potash project

Australia’s Danakali (ASX, LON:DNK) said on Wednesday https://www.londonstockexchange.com/new ... e/14672190 it has completed an updated process plant and infrastructure study for its Colluli potash project in Eritrea, which has identified optimization opportunities for the proposed mine.

The Perth-based company, which has completed phase two of engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) work at Colluli, said main potential improvements are related to the environmental and economic aspects of the project.

Upgrades include a beach well intake for the water intake treatment area, which has a lower environmental impact and was found preferable to a subsea intake pipeline.

A third-party review of the work by DRA Global found the beach well intake minimised risk to subsea and coastal habitats by avoiding onshore pipeline construction and offshore installation.

Another optimization was dry harvesting from back end recovery ponds, resulting in a less complex processing design.

Danakali has also selected RA International as camp provider which will give the project a fit for purpose manufactured camp.

Chief executive officer Niels Wage said the assessment provides
increased certainty and understanding
of the project and its schedule.
The detail review process again validates the robustness of the project and previous technical studies,
he said.
It is also pleasing to see that a number of optimisation opportunities in the process are established that will further de-risk the project,
Wage added.

Game changer

Colluli, a 50:50 joint venture between Danakali and the Eritrean National Mining Corporation (ENAMCO), is on track for production in 2022.

In the initial phase of operations, the mine would produce more than 472,000 tonnes a year of sulphate of potash (SOP), a premium grade fertilizer.

Annual output could rise to almost 944,000 tonnes if Danakali decides to go ahead with a second phase of development, as the project has a possible 200-year plus mine-life.

The company will now begin phase three of construction at the project, which has been called “a game-changerhttps://www.mining.com/danakalis-potash ... ritrea-un/ for the East African nation’s economy.

Danakali’s further de-risk of Colluli coincides with the move towards diplomatic relations between the once feuding countries of Eritrea and Ethiopia, which officially declared peace in July 2018.

Until that year, Eritrea was on the United Nations’ sanctions list.

SETTIMANA INTERNAZIONALE COPPI E BARTALI. ASTANA PRO TEAM WINS TEAM CLASSIFICATION, KUDUS FINISHED IN TOP 10

http://www.astanaproteam.kz/modules.php ... ws&id=3672

04/09/2020 / RACE

35th edition of Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali finished today after four stages.

The last stage of the Italian race was a 166.2-kilometer-long circuit race around Forlì. The stage finished with the sprint from the reduced group of 32 riders, won by Dutch cyclist Pascal Eenkhoorn. Merhawi Kudus, Jonas Gregaard and young Kazakh neopros Vadim Proskiy finished stage in the first group, with the same time as a stage winner.

After four stages Astana Pro Team riders wins the team classification of the Settimana Internazionale Coppi e Bartali. Merhawi Kudus finished the race in Top 10, taking 8th place in the final GC.
It was normal race, not bad, not too good. We did not have big goals there, as it is more like a very nice platform to prepare for further competitions and to grow up the riders’ condition. As for Fabio Felline, he is preparing to the start of Tirreno-Adriatico, and possible start at Giro d’Italia. Merhawi Kudus was our leader in GC, he finished in Top 10, but there were not though uphill finishes suitable for him as he is pure climber. Yes, we had some mountains during the stages here, but the final kilometers were always flat. I am very pleased with young Kazakh Vadim Pronskiy, it was his first race after serious surgery, but he did it very good, always in the front, especially, taking into account, that today was really tough race, 7 circuits with a climb. This guy is our future, I think, he will be our hope for a GC in the climbs in the further year,
- commented sports director Alexandr Shefer.
