By the time Weyane entered Addis Abeba, Mengistu had already fled the country and the War was already over. The beginning of the end of Derg started when the TPLF liberated the entire Tigray in 1989 after about 15 years since the TPLF was formed, while it took you Shabia goons 30 long years, massive financial and military support from Arab countries, and the civil war among Ethiopians (including Tigreans vis-a-vis the Derg) to liberate Eritrea. Also, by the time TPLF/EPRDF entered Addis, they already had a capable mechanized army with several tanks captured from the enemy. You can do all the photo-shopping and label all the tanks as Shabia but this does not alter the truth on the ground. Besides, when TPLF/EPRDF entered Addis the decisive battles had already been concluded in the mountains of Gonder, Wello, Gojam and Norhern Showa, Mengistu had already fled the country, and there was no battle in Addis, other than mopping out a few remnants of Mengistu's guards around the palace. There was no need for Shabia support. However, since Shabia was jealous about the victories of the TPLF, it wanted to be part of the liberation of Addis and asked to send a few Shabia elements. No support from Shabia was needed at that time, the TPLF/EPRDF decisively won the major battles (including through its famous ambush tactics) before entering Addis. The TPLF/EPRDF leadership allowed a few Shabia elements to join them as a symbol of alliance. Shabia cadres are best at misinformation, backstabbing and dishonesty.
