Here is my take : the Ethiopian government and the media seemed to have realized TPLF was loosing its grips on the people of Tigray.
That is a sound observation. The TPLF alliance with the Oromo extremists, especially recently, the formation of the “ defenders of federalism” group, having nonstop conference in Mekele, have signaled, TPLF cannot count on Tigreans’ support for the war drama it was drumming up.
The more TPLF looses its grips on Tigreans, however, the more irrational its acts have become. That must be stopped.
Yes, something is cooking. What exactly is cooking ?

War will only start if pp or tplf feel like losing support from the people and whoever feels losing support will realize that not only lost support but will also loose the war.
Otherwise, it serves both parties to keep the statues quo for the longevity of their dictatorial regimes that they can live by blaming all the ills and bad things happening in their domain to the other party.
If no external enemy to blame, you’ll have to own the failure of leadership and step aside for capable leaders to lead the people to the promised land.
Change in the way Abiy is governing needs to happen fast, if he intends to remain a pm, because all the people who supported him initially including me are coming to conclusions he is incompetent to do the job. How can he allow terrorist organization like tplf roam in the country and kill innocent people? How can he allow terrorist abduct college girls and get away with it? The list goes on and on...

Why you think Tigrayans like Amhara when Amhara kicked out 120K ordinary Tigrayans, looted and burned their properties and killed students in Amhara by Amharu???
If Tigrayans loved Amhara, you could have kept them from joining the struggle, all Tigrayans hate Amhara and they do not want to live with Amhara. Amhara is the one obsessed with Tigray, can't live without Tigray??? The Amhara lovers are the leadership of Woyane because they have personal business interests not he ordinary people. You are lying to yourself all the things Amhara have been saying.
