Fin Finne is the Oromo settlement in central Addis Abeba. It seems logical to name the town Fin Finne instead of Addis ababa. The name Addis Abeba itself suggests there is a new town founded by Menelik, which was an Oromo settlement.

Many suburbs that had Oromo or Bantu names were changed to Amarigna names. I used to think Oromo or Bantus are immigrants. But this does not mean Amara should take their villages and rename them.

Addis Abeba could get her original Bantu name Fin Finne or another neutral name like Berara, which would suggest it belongs to all people living there. It should belong to neither Oromo or Amara. A new nae like Berara or any other name is quite fitting.

I do not care whether Addis Abeba is Muslim or Christian because it is not my town. I felt quite a stranger when I visited the town of Addis Abeba 2 years ago. I like to always be in Tigray. I am neither Amara nor Oromo. I sympathize with both Oromo and Amara people. I felt there were many Somalis and Eritreans in the central part of the city. There were also many Bantu Africans. Menelik was a Bantu and might have meant to displace the Abysinians (Tigrayans)and let the Bantu take over.

No No the indigenous ppl are Tulama Oromos and are killed by people like you for being “Neftegnas” or Gobana Dache Zer or Menelik Zer etc the Tulamas should vote on the name who they are mostly mixed with Amaras Tulama is only 17th century made. So Addis Ababa is better as a name then the name of fin-fin. Some Arsi jihadists want to turn Addis Ababa into a Muslim city and TPLF is helping Jihadists because TPLF/Tigray have no religion your religion is communism /atheism anti Amharian anti Gondere anti Lalibela anti orthodox.

Don’t forget (Queen Taytu) Amhara queen & Tulama administrators established Addis Ababa as a city if it wasn’t for her there wouldn’t be AA it would be another useless Ororo village including all of central Ethiopia’s cities from bishoftu & adama that only exist because of Abysinnia !
