Open Letter to Ethiopian Political Activists Worldwide and other Personalities
Dear all,
I am aware that you are all motivated by your own specific political, social, economic or any other issues at your heart, when you joined in the task at hand right now and it could sound insurmountable for you to overcome your own personal public engagments or goals and join hands in with other fellow citizens of your country on many common issues. You were raised in the Zemene-Woyane politics and it is understandable why that could be difficult to ask from you.
But imagine one thing and I would ask you kindly to do so just for a moment:
simply forget for a while (just minutes) about your own engagments and goals that you pursued for the major part of your public activism and consider the overarching issue of our country, that holds us together, we like it or not, as an umbrella under which we can take a shield when matters get worse or when we have to think about the place we all can call home. And then think about if we all manage for a one day (no, half a day, no, just 1/4th of a day of 24 hrs, which amounts to just about 6 hrs) come together and raise the name of our common home to the outside world and say "we uphold your name, our beloved motherland ETHIOPIA". May be this is long, it suffice to say "UP UP ETHIOPIA" for a quarter of a day on the global bases and call the day Global Action to Raise the Name of Ethiopia, from all over the world where Ethiopians have made their second home.
We can send a powerful message to those embarrassing folks who went out and called out "DOWN DOWN ETHIOPIA" and tell the world that there are many more who can keep their dearest country at their hearts too and we are in fact the majority.
We don't have to travel miles and hundreds of miles we can hold the rally in our own locations but in coordination with all others on the globe at the same day.
There are many countries around the world where their citizens have to go through a national service of a limitted time, which all citizens have to contribute to the wellbeing of their country, as a compulsory task of citizenship. Ethiopia doesn't have such a program right now and many young citizens don't have a right understanding of what a role one's own country have got for every citizen of the land.
Let's say this is a national service for our common home for a single day and just part of that single day, when we go out and tell/show the world that we do care about our country and our country is as beautiful as any other and we will call the day "UP UP ETHIOPIA".
The action should be all inclusive, independently of one's views, professions, religious doctrines, ethnic backgrounds, political affilations and other lines of differentiations and we are to show the true image of our Mosaic.
I call up on all citizens to organise a global "UP UP ETHIOPIA" day of action and denounce those we called out "Down Down ETHIOPIA" as this is an embarrassment of highest degree.

Thank you for your uplifting message. Do you have any suggestions how that can be done? Changing our Facebook UP UP ETHIOPIA would be one way to do it. You can count me in,Dear brother.

Re: Open Letter to Ethiopian Political Activists Worldwide and other Personalities
TGAA,
thank you for kind words. To be honest, I didn't consider in detail about how it could be realised but if done, then I think it could have far reaching effect for our country and clear message to those who think that they can divide us and concur us through that.
It could also be a sign of how we can come together and show our solidartiy to our nation and to each other.
I can imagine some of the activists whose access to the media can disseminate the message to their respective audiences, they have collectively, I think the major part of the citizens of the country.
I didn't consider about the Facebook action but it could also be done in addition to or instead of the physical global action.

TGAA,
I was trying to draw the attention of those on the ground and call on them to avoid the scenes and scenarios of the following video and try to concentrate instead just on the big issue. But I am not sure if the big issue is indeed the same for all the actors.
We are creating chieftains right and left these days.

I fully understand your point in the sense that "Down Down Ethiopia is not only an embarrassment but embarrassment and Shame. But yet I do categorically disagree with you suggestion because it is the same old emotional revenge and counter revenge primitive strategy that offers nothing novel and nothing deeper below the surface other than dividing and inflaming community feelings so that they should be up against each other's throats. Only external Ethiopian enemies will come to benefit from such spiraling contradictions and conflicts. Ethiopians (Greek: burned face=black people) was an original Kushitic name and kushitic state starting from prehistoric times.
In fact most of these clueless sloganeering parrots are being led by pathological power mongering few individuals in which case our Youth Communities should stay away from them and mind their business in cooperation with the government, rather than promoting tplf and other foreign interests contrary to their own interests. Education, employment and positive self image of their own future is what is needed to be promoted. Not punching and counter punching each other with no end in sight!
That is also why generations after generations of Oromos were building, defending, peace keeping and dying for Ethiopia to keep it stay alive and kicking, no question asked.
If you don't believe it just ask General Abdisa Aga who organized the mighty national and international militias and fought on two continents against foreign invaders, finally dealing then crushing defeats and sending the invaders back to where they came with their cursed tails between their sinful legs to go and l!ck their wounds. Add to this His Holiness Abune Petros (Magarsa Badhaasaa) who stood in front of the occupying enemy forces and publicly and categorically denounced the invasion of Ethiopia and called to arms instantly for which reason he was executed by the occupying fascist force right on the spot.

I am not sure whether it is seismic shift or a tremor but Abiy’s government has gotten a rude awakening of a lifetime from its slumber after Hachallu’s killing. It is a good thing. What Abiy’s reformist leadership has not made clear from let go was that what kind of expectations he has had of old guards. In order to lead a reform he needed to have reformist leaders. A hodgepodge of weyanee servile, jawar internal solders, his sympathizers and real reformist all got mixed up, making Abiy a general without army. These Oromo prosperity parties leaders by giving only a veneer of support to Abiy they let Jawar’s lead keero incoordination with local authorities got intranched in the vast land of Oromia , turning Abiy at best an appendix to Oromo people ,at worst a turncoat who is conspiring against them. This political maneuvering was done to turn Ethiopia into another Syria or Yeman. Had it happened Ethiopia would have fared worse than the two countries. Abiy can get all the accolades for his good deeds but he miserably failed to let ODP slip from his hand to Jawar, and had he not gradually started to have a modicum of control over the party, it would have cost him his life and the country uncalled off suffering . By pure luck, we were saved from the carnage jawar and co prepared for us. Now how can we save our Country and our people without stooping down to dictatorship?
How and to whom our support should be directed to . We need to support Abiy without ifs and buts. However, we have to hold Abiy’s feet to the fire when he or his foot solders revert to weyane ways of governing for simple reason of expediency. The support and the criticism can go hand in hand. Given the leave of a trust capital Abiy has garnered, for him to accept responsibility when he errs and by being transparent when he is right he would strengthen his hand for the challenge ahead. The culture of taking criticism as condemnations and the tendency to react negatively when one should not is in need of amelioration. As I have been saying that our support should be lock tape with structural reform that has been taking place; Especially, regarding judicial independence, law enforcement reform, responsible, accountable free press etc. However, we need to prioritize our national issues; as such, the survival of the nation comes first and foremost while we keep our difference on the second and third issues as their importance reqires. Although I don’t have much to say about these two gentlemen, I consider it a casual buddy chitchat. I found no depth in it. As people, we should be able to chew and walk at the same time. While we support the national agenda and aspiration of people, we can talk at an individual level how the rule of law applies. Individuals who cross the line should face justice at the level of their illegal activity or involvement. For this to be believable though the judicial branch independence has to be accepted by all.At no time political calculus should be a measure to render justice.
Re: Open Letter to Ethiopian Political Activists Worldwide and other Personalities
First of all i am not a politician or member of any group.Yes, Gala hooligan and islamists comitted unbelievable crime against ethiopian especially Oromo. the point is what are you going to do about it now?
You should know that Abyi is responcible for all this distruction partly. He let this islamist and mericineraies in to Ethiopia with their weopens and ultered the power balance. When these group viloletes indivdual rights, rob banks, attack selective ethnics he turned the other way. As a result , these groups undermine him and the law of the land and attempt to take his power by force.
The most surprisng thing is that they killed Amhara, gurage and even Oromos and burn their property and your schools while galas like Dawd Ibsa, Bekele Geriba , Jawar amed, Adanech abebe, shimeles, Takele Goma they become friend and dine and wine with the same agmae who tortured and sodomized them disregarding the pain and sorrow or the Oromo mothers and fathers who lost their children in broad daylight. They also burn amhara the one who fought with them to dismantle Agame TPLF
Those Gala in diaspora went to protest Abyi with the children of the same agame killers and sodomizers. What is wrong with these Oromo peoples? How come there is no elderly Oromo or Abagede to say no to this kind of savagery toward innocent people while they wine and dine with the killer of their own children.
It is very sad but intriguing how somebody destroys its own property and kills its own people while letting the enemy roam freely. There must be a genetic defect or from the very beginning they didn't evolve to the level full human I mean that is the logical justification unless and otherwise, you can tell me differently.
The bottom line is history showed us if crime went by unpunished the criminals grows and destablizes society. The mexican drug cartels, the coulombia drig cartels and the Libian hooligans are current examples. These thieves, rapist, killer and lier agames and galas should be brought to justice at any cost.
You sound like appologizing on behalf of agame TPLF. You can take your apoloogy and tell it on their face to the mothers who lost their kids during irecha, tell your apology to Hachalu's mother, tell your apology to the people of shahemene who's familly member burned alive and their life long saving and proprty burned to the ground. My be living in the west makes yo forget the tet of Qulqual and Kicha. Stupid agame you better start to used to them again very soon yo will be back to stone adge.
No reconciliation with out the truce.

Somehow you got off the rails. Where did I apologise for weyannes? I simply was addressing about the absence of law and order that has become previlant in the country, and the roots of the political problem that made it possible, and how should we get out of this mess? Call Oromos by what they want to be called. Respect is where everything should start. Don't shoot in the dark, you might end up shooting your self.Lakeshore wrote: ↑20 Jul 2020, 10:55First of all i am not a politician or member of any group.Yes, Gala hooligan and islamists comitted unbelievable crime against ethiopian especially Oromo. the point is what are you going to do about it now?

No, you were not replying to my post, you are clearily lost and don't seem to know what you are upto and not bold enough to say what you wanted to say.
There must be something that urges from inside to get out but you lacked the confidence to get out.
You must be a cowardly boy.

there are things that are negotiable and there are others which are never negotiable. And not everything is also of same priority and value.
You can negotiate about some of your possessions but to do that you need to have the least basic needs and foundation of your existence to be fulfilled for you.
You can't demolish your own house on yourself and hope to negotiate about something with others after you have lost that basic foundation of your existence.
