Sidamas have been waging a liberation struggle against the TPLF government for the past 27 years. Their quest for Regional autonomy was frequently met by unrestrained Military squash at every endeavor. Hundreds have been murdered mercilessly and thousands imprisoned just because they requested to exercise their God given and constitutionally guaranteed right.

Now that a new sheriff is in town, the Sidamas have finally been able to be heard and get what naturally is theirs. Ethiopia just got its 10th Regional state which will force the amendment of the constitution. Congratulations Sidamas!!

Murders Enjoy Freedom, Whilst Sidama Loqee Massacre Victims Remain Without Justice As 15th Year On...

A confirmed 69 unarmed, nonviolently marching Sidama civilians have been executed in broad day light by TPLF’s (Tigray People’s Liberation Front- the current rulers of Ethiopia) highly mechanized army on May 24, 2002. Unknown numbers of Sidama victims who’re shot and unconsciously run into nearby bushes and maize farms were also eaten by hyenas and other wild animals on the night of the massacre. Their dead bodies were eaten in such abhorring manner simply because they were left to bleed and die an agonizing death; as family and medical attention were denied. The incident has taken place before 11am local time. Following the massacre, TPLF has imposed strict curfew in the entire Sidama land with severe intensity in the capital, Hawassa. In addition to the indicated numbers of confirmed victims above, the death of unknown number of Sidama civilians came to the light of majority only after dozens of skulls were discovered in the adjacent bushes, shrubs as well maize farms days and weeks after the massacre when the curfew has been slightly eased.

The Loqqe Massacre of the Sidama Civilians

On May 24, 2002, Sidama people of all walks of life staged a peaceful, nonviolent and unarmed demonstration claiming their unconditional rights for regional autonomy that was accorded to the nations whose population is significantly smaller than that of theirs. The current estimated population of Sidama is over 5.5m. Despite their peaceful demand for regional autonomy, the demonstrators were met with live ammunitions from the TPLF army and the police forces that were assigned to monitor the protest. The TPLF led regime’s political leadership from Sidama Zone, Southern Ethiopia Nations and Nationalities and People’s Regional State up to the central government carefully planned and managed the massacre.

Sidama is now the new Regional State and they won't be under the colony of anybody. You can't just wish for something that isn't supported by facts on the ground and politics of the day. You need to learn how to make the antidote from the poison itself. Please don't expect the government to do everything on your wish-list, as they have their own too, if you are not aware of it by now. Sidama was a Region of its own before TPLF came to our country. Why is it a concern if they need to restore what has been forcefully taken away from them?

"The present-day Sidaama language was arguably introduced by the Bushshe fac-tion as presumably the Malde’a, as well as the related Allaaba, by that time spoke a Semitic idiom affiliated to Harari. It seems obvious that the name Sidaama, which the Oromo later conveyed indiscriminately to all foreign ethnic groups with whom they came into contact, already existed for the Bushshe people in Dawa. They were the first adversary and their name was then virtually introduced as a general label for “enemy”. The fact that the ethnic term Sidaama, since the 16th century, has been understood by the Oromo as more or less synonymous with “Christians” becomes understandable from the overall historical picture. For example, the traditions of the Haweela tell of a close relationship with the Emperor Lebena Dingil whose domain may have actually extended into the highlands south of Lake Awasa (cf. chap. 3.3.1).
The name Haweela, according to JENSEN (n.d.: 27), is said to have been de-rived from “Abelām”, the Amharic word for “herdsmen of the court”. Worth mentioning in this connection is the migration tradition of the Burǧi, linguistically related to the Sidaama, that they had made their way through Liiban, then going north in the direction of Kooyira. The starting point of the Burǧi migration was, however, claimed to have been the territory of Mänz in Šäwa, which implies an amalgamation with the traditions about the Christian political and cultural impact between the 13thand 17th centuries in the Amaaro (Kooyira) region."

"Concerning the neighbouring Amaaro – the name itself is said to have been derived from Amhara – it has convincingly been argued that at least the dynasty and the ruling elite were recruited from north-Ethiopian immi-grants, people from Mänz.
The Burǧi, who immigrated after the Grañ wars, appar-ently assumed this model from the neighbouring Amaaro and incorporated it into their own set of traditions."

Typical "hod siyawq Dero Mata"...errrr kumtr bel ante ximb ahiya, Sidama knows the truth, its enemy are adgis like you, almost all sidamas view Tigreans as their brothers and strategic allies. TPLF (and even OLF) in the early 90s always advocated for the creation of Sidama kilil, it was actually formed, but it was pulled BAck AS Abate Kesho and co (who are Sidamas) opposed that from the outset. And it is on record.
It is the xengara Hailemariam desalegn who killed Sidamas when he was Governor of the South and Meles immediately removed him from that post. Sidamas know it. Meshrefet representing adgis like you killed 4 times more Sidamas in 2 years than Sidamas got killed in 27 years.

ትግሬዎች አንቀፁን ፃፉ ማለት እኮ ዛሬ ጠይቀይ ዛሬ ታገኛለህ ማለት አይደለም የስላማዊ ትግል ታረጋለህ በመጨረሻም እድሉ ይስጠሀል የፈለግኸውን መርጠህ ትገላገላለህ።
