Ejersa,

I think the right thing to do would be for PP to run in that election. The idea of governing Tigray, or any other place for that matter, from Addis, is not new and history shows it doesn’t work. I mean, if it didn’t work during Derg, why would it work today for OPDO/ PP?

PP should use its influence at federal level and guarantee fair elections in Tigray. But to just reject the election and send governor from the center is same old same. With all due respect to Tigray PP, they should call for fair elections in Tigray instead of no elections in Tigray. If they have influence within PP, that’s what they should push for.

If the election turns out to be significantly unfair, then they succeed in exposing Tigray institutions. That gives them support from Tigray. PP Tigray should play it that way. Otherwise, how is Dr. Abraham of Colonel Abiy different from Legesse Asfaw of Colonel Mengistu?

Eden,
I’m not sure about your political views.
TPLF is crying about the useless constitution over and over again. If we’re on talking about constitution, we should abide by that. Meaning the electoral commission is the sole legitimate body who got the power/authority to run elections. Period
When we’re talking about holding regional elections without the commission’s’ authorization, we’re breaking the laws we say are priceless. Hence, the feds got every right to bring laws and orders by any means possible.
Though luck for TPLF, nobody around to hide under.

That is a fair statement. The TPLF politicians should know Tigray still is part of Ethiopia. The federal government power supersedes that of Killel when it comes to election. The federal government power was “ divine” when Meles denied the Kinjit politicians not to have a meeting in Nazret because it is part of Oromia according to our genius, but the federal government is the same as “ Legesse Asfaw “ when the Abiy administration wanted to implement the letter of the law. How pathetic!
