Somalia launches first offshore licensing round
Created: Wednesday, 13 May 2020 13:31

Somalia has launched its first offshore licensing round for seven blocks

This licensing round will open on 4 August this year and will be closing on 12 March 2021.

According to the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Somalia has achieved significant milestones that will provide predictability, reliability and transparency to the oil and gas companies and investors who are willing to do business with the Somali Government.

Among those milestones are; the Petroleum Law that completed its legislative process earlier this year. The Revenue Sharing Agreement enshrined in The Petroleum Law which indicates how future revenues from the development of the industry will be shared between The Federal Government, the Federal Members States and their local communities.

And this agreement has now been ‘road-tested’ with the first revenues, which were recently generated from rental payments from Shell and Exonn. Moreover, Production Sharing Contract model is investor friendly, flexible and top quartile fiscal framework.

The Ministry assured that the process would be fair and transparent for everyone taking part in the licensing round, adding that the revenues generated from oil gas explorations will be used as the catalyst for a new dynamic, renewable and self-sustainable economy.

If the western nations leaves Somalia alone, It could become the world's largest exporter of oil & natural gas, Somalia has large proven light oil and gas reserves which is easily accessible all along its coastline, but Somalia is still America's most wanted list countries.

I just hope that this is true and our dear Somali brothers and sisters will be the beneficiary of their natural resources God/Allah blessed them with. Remember, a prosperous Somalia is always good for our region and the world... The people of Eritrea have nothing but love and respect for the people of Somalia.

Za-Ilmaknun.

The Somalia who almost conquered the entire Ethiopia in the 1970.

the current relationship between Somalia and Ethiopia is excellent, thanks to Abiy Ahmed & Oromo youth stone throwers, There is no rivalry between the two countries right now, So, let's be happy for Our peaceful neighbor country, even though Our overcrowded miserable Ethiopia will certainly cease to exist as a country in the near future, while Somalia will flourish and prosper.

hehehe...the entire Ethiopia is far larger than the part of eastern Ethiopia up to Babile. With all hundreds of Jets and modern tanks, the Ziad Barre ragtag khat chewing goats army was made the laughing stock of the world with few old armaments that the Ethiopians were forced to defend themselves with.

The Siad Barre army which was armed to teeth by communists and Arabs was destroyed completely in a couple of years war. The result is what we see today...countless fiefdoms that call themselves different names. I was asking the question to know which Somalia was the one you were talking about since we have a dozen countries which call themselves Somalia with some kinda prefix.

The TPLF troops roamed in Moqdesho and all parts of Somalia before Abiy came to power to pull the gangs so that your people could get some semblance of a country without a master. You never seem to get tired of being ruled by others ...too sad !

Unless you have been living under a rock over the last couple of decades, you know well that Somalia almost conquered the artificial country so called Ethiopia, Had not been for the Soviet Union, Cuban and Yemenis 50.000 troops & weapons who stopped Somali men from occupying Ethiopia, Ethiopia & the current entire depressed population of Ethiopia would have been under Somalis colony right now.

The TPLF troops roamed in Moqdesho and all parts of Somalia.
You are obviously not that smart, TPLF or Ethiopian troops are western mercenaries, they are nothing without western nations support.
