Until you came home in 1994 and caused havoc in the next 6 years, TPLF had no desire to break Gurage apart.
You aligned yourself with monarckist family such as Hailu Shawel. You opposed the free land distribution to those who use it long advocated by the Ethiopian students union and for which many died. You advocated for the privatization of Ethiopian lands. You opposed the self-determination of nations. If this has to be excercised, you said, some nations do not qualify for it. Who you did have in mind was later revealed when you opposed the Gurage demand for its region in 2023. You even dismissed its most vocal advocate from your Party's membership and wrote a letter to this effect to the Ethiopian Security agency following which Degefe was arrested for a year without charge.
