Somaliman,
You are making a different argument. Yes, Somaliland right now does not have the money to develop its resources because the cruel world has denied it a status that is critical to join world market and finance - hence why the singular rational for quest for recognition.

In January almost a year ago, I said that irrespective of the outcome of the MOU, Ethiopia has forcefully put the Somaliland cause on the world scale and that alone was a historic contribution of my nation Ethiopia to the people of Somaliland.

Again, irrespective of how long their recognition takes the Ethio-Somaliland strategic relationship including economic is sealed for good. Soon, we will buying Somaliland fish in Merkato. Soon, Somaliland will a dynamic economic partner of Ethiopia in many many fields including energy.

As for the effect of Chat on their culture, that is for their society to solve. Ethiopia also needs to solve its expansion both as commercial crop and drug problem.

That aside, Somaliland's vision of Ethiopia's strategic importance to its development is a far sighted and brilliant vision. Somaliland has miles upon miles of sea cost and by leasing a few km of it to us and in return enter Ethiopian market with force that is what I call brilliance. For us access to sea a naval base is as critical as the Nile Dam.

So, it is a marriage made in heaven. No power can sabotage it.

How has Ethiopia "forcefully put the Somaliland cause on the world scale"?
Somaliman,
Sorry. I do blogging on my down time and to relax from other tasks; that's way. Forcefully put simply means strongly put that is all. Evidence is her on ER. Somaliland existed as independent entity for longer than 30 years. Here we are talking about her on ER only as a consequence of the MOU. Because of the MOU the geopolitics of the Horn has changed up to including a potential danger of war. As we speak, I believe most of the politically informed world knows about Somaliland and the majority sentiment is toward her recognition, save for the legal fiction called sovereignty. Right now I am deeply interested in the outcome the election there. Even though all 3 candidates stated their support for the MOU, I prefer Muse Bihi to win since he is the who signed the MOU.

So, to you, "Ethiopia has forcefully put the Somaliland cause on the world scale", simply because you're hallucinating about a fake MoU and I and one or two other forum users are smashing your bullsh'it on this forum.

FYI, neither Ethiopia nor Somaliland has gained an iota of anything whatsoever from the fraudulent MoU. It has only served to backfire on both of them and nothing else.

Besides, the one clan show, which you said you don't give a sh'it about, has been taking place every few years for decades and has taken this mindless region nowhere.

Somaliman/Erie,
You are stupid. Ethiopia makes a deal with Somaliland nation not a single party or leader. Most important, Ethiopia should never get entangled with the vicious clan politics and money game. Ethiopia knows Somalian society very very well. Ethiopia is the only nation that makes all of these ports and sea coasts useful. Clan wars and terrorist infested clans jungle will not go any where. All of this noise and competition among the Somalis is precisely because of Ethiopia. So, the game will go on. In the mean time Ethiopia grows and modernizes at the speed of light. Ethiopia is the only magnet on the Horn. Let the little pieces finish up their plays. But, we will not get trapped in the cut throat Somalian clanism!

Ethiopia makes a deal with Somaliland nation not a single party or leader.
Completely false.

If that were the case, why had the fake MoU not been disclosed to anyone else other than the dotard fuc'ker Muse Bihi? Even the leaders of the opposition parties in Somaliland have not seen the fraudulent MoU to date, leave alone their parliament and the public in general! The only one from Somaliland who has seen it is Muse Bihi, who has refused to even bring it into their parliament. This clearly proves that clown Abiy has just been dealing with Muse Bihi and not Somaliland at all.

Guess what - the leaders of the opposition parties have been asked about their position with regard to the MoU and whether they would proceed with it. Their answer was that they couldn't say anything about an MoU they had not seen at all.

All of this noise and competition among the Somalis is precisely because of Ethiopia.
Which competition among Somalis? There's no competition among Somalis at all, stop talking out of your ar'se.

Ethiopia is the only nation that makes all of these ports and sea coasts useful.
Again, cut the bullsh'it. No one is asking you to use their ports, you're the only one in the whole of East Africa parroting port and access to the sea; no one else. It's the other way round. For instance, Djibouti is currently your life support, as it's handling 92% of your trade. And if you switch to another port, Djibouti would not suffer, as it has other financial sources.

In the mean time Ethiopia grows and modernizes at the speed of light. Ethiopia is the only magnet on the Horn.
Do you think you're talking to some Eskimos who've never heard of Ethiopia?

Somaliman,
The Somaliland opposition leader was in Addis Abeba and had discussed the MOU and my educated guess is he has all the details on the MOU. He was also right in saying 'no comment' because why would he show his card prior to his party's victory or defeat. Now, the he is in power, he will negotiate with Ethiopia.

Look, dude, Ethiopia is not getting a free sea access from Somaliland and Somaliland is not getting free recognition from Ethiopia. The two nations will advance their national interests mutually. Ethiopia has no problem with Somaliland and my guess is Ethiopia has already effectively recognized Somaliland, save for external opposition and pressure on Ethiopia which is changing nothing.

As we speak the trade between Turkey and Ethiopia is almost coming to zero. Ethiopian merchants and tourists are not allowed to go to Turkey any more. They have to pay 1000% increased fees etc. because Turkey back stabbed Ethiopia on the MOU deal. In fact Turkey and Egypt are working together to pressure Ethiopia to bow to their colonial exploitation of the Horn.

I am sure you know the psychology of Ethiopians. We hate colonial bullying! Imperialist Turkey knows that. The drama queen Egypt definitely know who Ethiopians are.

Now observe, Hassan Sheik is beating war drums. Sudan is beating war drums. Eritrea is beating war drums. All three are fake dramatics! If Hassan Sheik continues with with infantile temper tantrum, he will face the fate of Siad Barre. The same with Sudan. Actually, Sudan needs to be dismantled just like Somalia. We have been kind to them for alooong time. If they choose to become a willing slave of Egypt, they will become another Somalia.

As for Eritrean drama, just forget it. Eritreans are fleeing into Ethiopia in thousands and their problem can only get worse.

Ethiopia is able to raise 1 million man army to deploy on all 3 fronts. Remember, the total population and economy of Eritrea + Sudan + Somalia does not come close to that of Ethiopia.

Soon, all of these noises will go silent.

Keep your guess in your ar'se. The fact is that no one else other the dotard Muse Bihi has seen the fraudulent MoU. Only clown Abiy, Muse Bihi, and you are parroting about this dead MoU and no one else. Almost eleven months have elapsed since its concoction, yet you have made any progress whatsoever in this respect. All you've been doing since is blabbering bullsh'it.

As we speak the trade between Turkey and Ethiopia is almost coming to zero.
Obviously you're taking advantage of hiding behind your screen, otherwise you wouldn't feel confident about uttering all the bullsh'it you're parroting on this forum, right?

FYI, as we speak, Turkey has got more than 150 Turkish companies in Ethiopia employing approximately 30,000 Ethiopians.
Ethiopia is able to raise 1 million man army to deploy on all 3 fronts. Remember, the total population and economy of Eritrea + Sudan + Somalia does not come close to that of Ethiopia.

Even 10 million of this tsunami of poorly trained cowards who surrender on the first gunshot won't be able to rescue your ar'ses from three fronts. Be careful what you wish for, it might just come true, to see your cursed land being wiped off the face of the earth.

The political landscape in Somaliland is poised for a significant shift, and with it, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) hangs precariously in the balance. It appears increasingly likely that the opposition, bolstered by notable support from Djibouti and Somalia, may emerge victorious in the impending elections. Djibouti, in particular, has reportedly provided financial backing to the Wadani opposition party, further solidifying its position and heightening the probability of an electoral upset.

President Muse Biihi recently underscored the government's readiness to implement the MOU, a stance reiterated just two days prior to the elections. However, his remarks also revealed Ethiopia's hesitance to endorse or advance the agreement. This reluctance, as expressed by President Biihi, has cast a shadow over the MOU's future and may have inadvertently undermined the incumbent administration's electoral prospects. An active push from Ethiopia in support of the MOU might have bolstered the current government's standing, yet such action has been conspicuously absent.

Should the opposition ascend to power, the fate of the MOU appears increasingly bleak. The opposition leader, Abdurahman, has openly stated that neither he nor the parliament has been privy to the MOU’s contents, further suggesting a lack of institutional buy-in. This scepticism raises questions about the agreement's legitimacy and survivability under a new administration. In a possible twist, the opposition might even pursue reconciliation with Somalia, fundamentally altering the region’s political trajectory.

In light of these developments, the MOU's implementation seems far from assured. The interplay of domestic electoral dynamics and regional geopolitical interests has rendered its future uncertain, if not untenable indeed.

Somaliman,
On the contrary, I want my nation to play a good old fashioned intelligent game just like, just as our forefathers did with world powers. In fact, I am the last person who wants to see my nation to be entangled in the shifty and mendacious Somalians clan intrigue and machinations. I want Ethiopia to make a clear and lasting agreement with the nation of Somaliland, not with any temporary person and party in power. We are not given a free port. Somaliland is not doing us a favor. So I want a long and thoroughly negotiated deal. For example, I don't support any foreign country to own any part of Ethiopian airlines. Somalilanders can have all the electricity or water they need but not a part of EAL.

Most of all what I am happy about is the disruption of the status quo of HOA. We are cutting Egyptian evil designs to its size. We are cutting the snake like behavior of Somalia to its size. The same with the snake Eritrea. I am most happy now that our rightful claim to Red Sea access has become a central national agenda of the Ethiopian government. We will correct the historical crime and injustice of two mortal enemies of Ethiopia - TPLF & EPLF The rest are merely process, time and implementation!

Horus, there is little purpose in continuing this discussion. Ethiopia was never genuinely committed to the Memorandum of Understanding; it was merely a tool of leverage against the Government of Somalia. The proposal to exchange territory for a modest stake in Ethiopian Airlines is, frankly, untenable and its Useless .

Consider this: how much does Ethiopian Airlines generate annually? And what would Somalis gain a mere 20% share? For what? A port a free port, no less where Ethiopia can conduct its maritime business as usual? Such terms are utterly unacceptable. No rational individual would endorse this arrangement, and certainly not the new government in Somaliland led by Abduraham, which appears far more inclined to reopen negotiations with Mogadishu.

You had 11 months time and yet, this initiative has floundered. It is futile to dwell on this expired MOU any further indeed.

The MoU was all about distracting Ethiopians from the real and pressing domestic issues in Ethiopia, and testing the waters to see the reaction of Somalia.

Zack,
You are entitled to you theory. Abiy did not go through all this hell just to make a media optics. Don't forget that Ethiopia and Turkey area very bad terms almost cutting much the commercial interactions between them as the result of ze MOU

You have one plausible notion based on the wrong reason; that is, why was Abiy hesitant to go for win or lose? In my view, it was Muse Bihi. Muse Bihi was in power on a contested extension and there was not sufficient internal unity in Somaliland to go for broke in the case of war with Somalia. Remember that the new president won the election because he was advocating a non-military path to Somaliland's independence that is to negotiate with Somalia where as Bihi cut off the negotiation and put the Somalia-Somaliland relations on war footing. Similarly, even Abiy Ahmed was not/is not ready to engage in another major war on top of Amara and Oromia.

So, now we are in a whole different phase of the dynamics - Somalia is a much complex internal division and external control. Egypt has shown its card in hurry and getting deeper into its own entanglement. Turkey the big snake in the bush is now exposed. I have argued from day one that Ethiopia should never trust the neo-ottoman imperialist Turkey. That has become clear like a day light.

In the mean time Ethiopia and Somaliland have not lost a penny. Nothing happened to their positions. In fact, the Somaliland issue may be presented to AU by the new chairman of African Unity who actually support Somaliland recognition.

I wonder when you're going to grow out of blabbering bullsh'it!

FYI, to date, there hasn't been any new president in this mindless enclave and dotard Muse Bihi is still the so-called president. The one you're referring to has never advocated for anything whatsoever. This so-called election is nothing more than a one clan show, where Issak subclans take turns. In addition, contrary to your diarrhea, Somalia and Somaliland have never been on a war footing - we're not Ethiopia that's at war with itself killing its own people en masse.

Moreover, you must be either a complete idiot or suffering from mental disorders, or probably both! FYI, Turkey has, as we speak, more than 150 companies in Ethiopia, investing in various sectors.

By the way, were you expecting Turkey to give you a coastal land of Somalia, as you're disappointed with it? You need to see a psychiatrist.

Here is the facts

* It's true both abiy and muse used the MoU to boost their popularity. Initially they never expected that Many more enemies will show up. They expected only Eritrea , Djibouti and zoomalia.

* Abiy backed off , I don't blame him the guy is Dealing with multiple internal terrorists. He is not in good position to Fk with the big guys

* Somaliland is not scared of any of the players in the field. We can basically do what ever we want without any bad consequences. Its My land my rules.

* There is no doubt somaliland is aligned with Ethiopia. But it's actually zoomalia who is further pushing somaliland to the Ethiopian side. And we have nothing to loose here. Eventually Ethiopia and somaliland are going to win. Simply because Ethiopia has no choice. And zomalia won't accept our independence.

Those filth Egyptians and Turks can't do a shiit to us. Somaliland always hated the Turks.

In the long term Ethiopia can only trust Somaliland or Kenya for access to the ocean. The rest are proved to be it's enemies including tiny Djibouti. How ever the Bantu dominated east Africa don't actually want Ethiopia to compete with them. And they already have taken over somalia. Somalia is a member of the Bantu block.

What's left for Ethiopia , is just somaliland. A small democratic nation that's not threat to Ethiopia with massive uninhabited coastline and Freindly population.

Third option is to invade Eritrea.
