Tigray, as an insurrectionist regional state in Ethiopia, lacks currently money supply and through that any means for currency based trade. Still the insurrectionists need to trade to access their resources of war, mostly weapons of different sorts to wage the war against the central state. The people in charge of Tigray's affairs lack any source of currency, but they have to access weapons, else they lose the very reason of their existence, which is waging war against the state.Bartering is an ancient economic system in which goods and services are directly exchanged for other goods and services without the use of money. It allows individuals and businesses to acquire what they need through a mutually beneficial trade, bypassing currency altogether.
But they can access one important pretty vast resource of fighting youth, which is needed elsewhere: this is fighting force, be it by means of forced conscription or voluntarily enlisting into the fighting force to lead their personal lives. These are the unlucky Tigrean youth of today.
What did Woyane, the body in charge of today's Tigray, design to work around the lack of adequate currency in the region? Bartering!
In this way they can provide the fighting force from the pool of vast youth to the Sudanese Military (the Sudanese Armed Force or SAR) so that this can use them to wage its own war against the rival Rapid Support Force (RSF) in return for a weapon supply to TPLF or Woyane from Sudan (or at least through Sudan), without any need of any currency for the trade.
A sad but real story of today's Ethiopia!
