The value of human life in shitopia.

Ethiopian army says, it still knows nothing about drone strike that wiped out 40 of its own fighters.
ETHIOPIA ― Ethiopia’s military appears to be learning about one of its deadliest recent drone strikes the same way everyone else did - from the media.

At least 40 pro government fighters were killed on January 15 when an army drone struck a camp in the Wag Hemra zone of the Amhara region, according to local officials and medical workers.

The problem, officials say, is that the camp belonged to the government’s own side. The army, which regularly deploys drones across Amhara, somehow missed that detail.

An army spokesperson reportedly told AFP that they had not “received any information” about the incident, raising questions about whether the military’s left hand speaks to its right, or whether the drones are operating on autopilot.

Drone strikes have become routine in Amhara, with deadly results. According to conflict monitoring group ACLED, at least 669 people have been killed in more than 70 drone attacks in the region since 2023.

The conflict in Amhara erupted after tensions between federal authorities and local militias escalated following the end of the Tigray war. Despite repeated assurances from the government that the situation is under control, the drones keep flying, the body count keeps rising, and the army says it has not heard a thing ... 😭
