There is a good reason Eritrea to ban it some 25!years ago. Ruwanda is late but followed it. In Ethiopia, this cult system is creating societal distinction, promiscuity, theft and ugly politics. It should be banned or left only for Lutheran church to lead and own it.

The problem is more complex than one can imagine. Eritrea cannot be compared with no other country. Both orthodox and evangelicals are victims. In Eritrea everything is banned except for activities of the comrades. Rwanda at least said it wants to legally control the mushrooming of pseudo-churches under rules and regulations. I hope it is not China style control where government cadres make a rule in a church. What I believe is Protestant churches must have legal body like Lutheran church, orthodox and catholic churches. Individuals should be legally tried if found speaking hate or for theft and deception. The problem is not with the known protestant churches such as full gospel, meserte-kirstos or Kale-hiwot etc. The problem is with the prosperity churches and congregations that usually are outliers and are not registered with council or church body. Legal body should make sure illegal money collection or deceptive ways to collect money don't happen which may be difficult to control.
In any case, those pastors who spread hate speech and others are mostly PP/OPDO enabled ones. I don't think mainstream churches do that. Since OPDO/PP deliberately allows this to happen (it is happy to hear what it wants to hear), it is futile to expect the current gov will push the church council to take action. For the OPDO/PP lead system EoC is the main problem not the mushrooming false prophets and false churches.
Also, we need to be careful not to throw out the baby with the bath water. Religion is a sensitive issue in Ethiopian politics. Protestant church represents a large congregation and not going anywhere but must regulate itself properly. Orthodox congregation and mainstream protestants should work together and narrow their differences as both are Christians although doctrines/cannons may differ. Respect is very important.
As far as independent legal institutions exist, religion is a fundamental human right!

There is a structural problem in Protestantism for the most part. It doesn't believe in coexistence especially with existing christianities such as Orthodox a d Chatolics. It lacks patriotism, love of country,..etc yet it redicules it and hopes a different form.of state being vocal and active in politics itself. I found it bizarre and I think sufi Islam is we better than Protestantism in structures, norms and coexistence. Take a look at this debate.

You know how much I am disgusted by people like this!
I understand what you are saying and this needs to be dealt with. In my life time I have never seen protestants behaving like this. These are idiots not well rooted on the word of God. The new law jesus gave is called Love others like you love yourself. Many of them are expressing hate under the cover of religion and should have been brought to justice for their actions. These are dogs often deliberately used by the system to devide and concur. I would not allow my self to spend a minute with such beast. These are ignorants mushroomed by PP. Prosperity gospel, uncontrolled or unregulated prophecy and prophets and mushrooming churches with crime have no scriptural basis and are outright scams. Such criminals are busted by FBI even in USA. People obviously have to protect themselves and if law exists, the law should protect the people from such money laundering and hate speech schemes. False prophets and scam religions will always be there but the law has to protect people. Unfortunately with the current lawlessness crimes are everywhere. Orthodox Church and offended people have to take legal actions on those who don’t mind their mouth and actions!
