Save the Space, it costs money!

Post by DefendTheTruth » 28 Oct 2025, 11:08

In IT a storage is essentially a space of data storage. The more data you store, the more space you are going to use that costs money.

If you care about efficiency in this regard, then to spare your money you have to start by making your data more compact.
This is a simple logic.

In the future every business is run on a substrate of digital infrastructure. Any document you generate in your daily business consumes your money, by taking up your digital storage space.

An example (taken from an OBN TV-subtitle):
Yaa'ii 6ffaa Bara Hojii Waggaa 5ffaa Wal Gahii Idilee 2ffaa MMBBU
Just looking at the 3 ordinal numbers in the subtitle and comparing with another possible way of writing them in the Geez font would be as follows:

6ፋ፣ 5ፋ፣ 2ፋ in Afan Oromo or 6ኛ፣ 5ኛ፣ 2ኛ in Amharic. This replaces the 5 characters used to represent the numbers with just two, which translates into the use of a place of 16 x 5 = 80 (x 3) = 240 compared to 2 x 16 = 32 (x 3) = 80 (around 30 % percent of the former form of representation. 16 is the number of digital places of the currently used Unicode representation of digital data.

This translates to the cost of digital storage space and a saving of about 65 % using just the use of Geez font (characters).

At this scale it could be considered in relation to the volume of data that is to be used and spaces needed, which is no more in terms of MB, or GB but in terms of TB, or PB and similar scales.

The growth is mostly linear, the more data you store in your business of digital platform, the more space you consume.

This needs to be taken into consideration in due time!
