The mechanics of languages loss, how Gafat, and Gurages renamed as Seden Sodo, Sodo Jida, Sodo Malima, Chebo, Amaya died is not known. Little is also known how Mesmes Gurage died out just recently and now speak Hadiya.
Language suppression can be suggested as one of the processes but this does not fully explain these tragedies.
