The two years war between Emperor Yohannes led Ethiopia & Ismael Pasha led Egypt was initiated by Egypt to control the source of the Abay river. The smashing victory of Egypt by Ethiopia & its subsequent colonization by Great Britain is a constant reminder & deterrence so that Egyptians should never dare to directly wage war against Ethiopia. Daniel Kibret & Abiy are constantly trying to bury the contribution of Tigrayans( both in Ethiopia & Eritrea) & that may be the reason that instead of relating the dam to the Ethiopian & Egypt war , they tried to relate it to the Ethiopia & Italy war in Aadwa. If Ethiopia did not win the Gundet & Gura battle there should not had been the Adwa victory. It is wrong to relate the dam build by an Italian company to the battle of Adwa between Ethiopia - Italy.
