The term ethnic is misused and abused in this political context. A term exclusively sociological concept. The groups so referred are actually nations.
Secondly, in other instances where a small number of groups from another culture migrate and settle in a majority culture of another. For example, Gurages, Amaras, Oromos, Tigrey are ethnic groups in America.
Using the above science, who is ethnic in Ethiopia?
1. Gurages who live and work in Oromo are ethnics. Amaras who live and work in Oromo are ethnics. Amaras who live in Gurage and other nations are ethnic in those nations.
2. Tigreys who live and work in Amara are ethnics.
3. Kebesas who live and work in the regions of different nations of Ethiopia are ethnic groups in those nations.
