Eritrea ranks 9th in Africa at Higher Education Access!

Eritrea holds the 9th spot in Africa for the number of higher education institutions relative to population size among African nations!

1) Institute of Technology (EIT): Located in Mai Nefhi, near Asmara, EIT comprises three colleges: Science, Engineering and Technology, and Education. It was established in 2004 to expand access to higher education beyond the capital.

2) Hamelmalo Agricultural College (HAC): Situated in Hamelmalo, this college focuses on agricultural sciences and was established in 2005.

3) Asmara College of Health Sciences (ACHS): Based in Asmara, ACHS offers programs in health-related fields and was established in 1999.

4) Orotta School of Medicine and Dentistry (OSMDM): Located in Asmara, this institution specializes in medical and dental education and was established in 2005.

5) College of Marine Sciences and Technology (COMSAT): Based in Massawa, COMSAT offers programs related to marine sciences and technology and was established in 2005.

6) College of Business and Social Sciences (CBSS): Situated in Adi Keih, this college provides education in business and social sciences and was established in 2006.

7) College of Arts and Social Sciences (CASS): Also located in Adi Keih, CASS offers programs in arts and social sciences and was established in 2006.

8 Halhale College of Business and Economics (HCBE): Located in Halhale, this college focuses on business and economics education.

9) University of Asmara (UoA): Established in 1958 in Asmara, UoA was the oldest university in Eritrea. It had temporarily ceased operations in 2006 following the establishment of new institutions aimed at decentralizing higher education, but now focuses on post grad degrees.
