Re: World congratulates Somaliland on its indepedence day 1960
Queen Elizabeth II
"I, my Government and my people in the United Kingdom, wish you well on this day of independence. The connection between our people goes back some 130 years and British administration of the Protectorate for 60 years. I look forward to a continuing and enduring friendship between our two countries.”

We should be careful in obstructing people from excercising their legit soverign rights. Choose peace where it demands, where it deserves.Somaliman wrote: ↑30 Aug 2024, 17:28
An Ethiopian telling others that they're disrespecting the rights of other!!
So funny!!
Somaliland was a British colony as any such as Ghana, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe. The world recognized its independence and celebrated its happinnes with the free and indepedent Somaliland.

It looks like somaliland was already a country (5 days) even before some of us were born

Good riddance!
Why does somaliland even need a blessing from somalia to be a country or a recognition by the Oromuma/OPDO/PP junkies?
It looks like just a bad marriage of two countries without binding singed document and somaliland said I quit. Nullified the marriage and enjoying the most beatiful democratic governance in HoA! A lot better than our cousins in Eritrea or Ethnically fragmented Ethiopia

It is a crime not to recognize somaliland as a country and allow to dance whoever it wants to dance with!
We asked: “Did somaliland and somalia unify legally in 1960?”
ChatGPT says:
No, Somaliland and Somalia did not unify legally in 1960. In 1960, Somaliland, which was a British protectorate, gained independence on June 26, and the former Italian colony of Somalia (known as Italian Somaliland) gained independence on July 1. They then merged to form the Somali Republic on July 1, 1960.
While this union was recognized internationally and led to the establishment of the Somali Republic, the legal and political specifics of this merger are complex. Somaliland declared independence from Somalia in 1991 following the collapse of the Somali government, and it is not widely recognized as a separate state but considers itself a sovereign entity.
