The great line in the American pledge then and then

Post by Naga Tuma » 29 Jul 2024, 19:16

This reflection came to mind on July 16, 2024, after hearing on TV the recital of America’s pledge of allegiance during the Republican Party’s Convention.

The instant reaction then was the great line then and now.

The then now is now already then because one of them has said more recently party and country before him.

The great line then was “… liberty and justice for all,” at least rhetorically.

The great line as reflected on July 16, 2024, was “liberty for two old White dudes.”

I also wondered if the duo, who are not even the most legitimate British descendants, have been asking: Founding Fathers, what founding fathers?
