The irresponsible behaviors of Gurage, from political leaders to the ordinary Keru and Kerwet is resulting in the death of our language. Not not used in zonal offices. Not used in education. Not used in media(radio and tv). Not used in business. 50% used at homes. We wish we can use and preserve it but our actions go against our wishes.

በጉራጌኛ ልሳኖች ላለ ይውዘዩ አትም ወሻት ፈያ ቅሮሻትን። አብዳድራ እሞ "የጉራጌ ቋንቋዎች ምርምር ኢንስቲቲዩት" ዪብሉ የወሻት ተክላለት ዎሸክት ዪነብኖ!!

These youth fluency in their mother tongues cripppled. Their use of Amharic is more than 85%; only 15% of their speech is Sodo?

In an era in which the Ethiopian constitution recognizes equality of all languages and further provides funding for their development, as a result of which 51 languages are used as MoI(media of Instruction), Gurage language is on the verge of death, due mainly to negligence of political leaders.
