I got it from thinking and logic! World wide first generation diaspora is estimated to be anywhere between 4 to 5 million. As we speak, we are not only having 2nd generation diaspora (children of first time immigrant) we are having 3rd generation diaspora (grand children of the 4 or 5 million first generation. Look at the Soccer game in Atlanta! It is more or less 2nd and 3rd generation members. In my own extended family in Europe and North America 80% are 2nd and 3rd generation. Now you can do the math!!

Have you included those in Africa? Sudan,Kenya,south Africa,etc or are they not considered diaspora?
I know the number in the UK is less than 100,000, in Australia,new Zealand is insignificant.
in Brazil , Japan,India,China are a handful.

The 10 million Ethiopians Diaspora population is exaggerated.
Break it down by countries or continent and you will not get that number. Exaggerating figures is a habit for some. In my hometown there are 25k known Ethiopians but the folks estimate it to be 200k.
Also, the 2nd & 3 rd generations don’t give a s$$hit about Ethiopia let alone sending money.

That is the danger. They will be useful idiots for foreigners or their hosting nation. There are foreign born leaders who go back to the country their parents born and blundered these poor nations, that is concerning for Ethiopia. The parents must take priority for the generation to teach them about the love for Ethiopia. Let alone born on foreign land, those who lived briefly or trained or educated in foreign land are blundering their own country. They get recruited and turn agents for foreigners

You have a point. Also, there is this myth that the Ethiopian Diaspora will do magic to save Ethiopia. That is nonsense. The Ethiopian diaspora is on life support for its own survival. 7/10 Ethiopian origin immigrants drive taxi or hold a low paying jobs. They don’t have a formidable businesses or organized in a game changer way. They can’t even sue or hold criminal politicians who seeks asylum in the US after murdering so many Ethiopians at home. It is just BS.
One thing I agree with is that the remittance the Diaspora Ethiopians are sending to Ethiopia are helping the people of Ethiopia.

Right. If you read my Amharic written above, how Ethiopians are not united nor work together to empower their community. My other concern is their host nation might soon discriminate against them due to their faiths or culture or because of their forefathers who fought colonization. The English as leader heavily involved in every Western nation every time world war is about to break, they change the views of the host nations on certain immigrants.

There very rich Ethiopian diaspora, they don’t do any thing because I believe they might be monitored how they use their money. The remittance does help and the government is benefiting from it due to exchange currency. The issue is Ethiopians should not just benefit from remittance looking for hand out, must be independent to work, be creative, build factories and products to export which will create middle class, healthy economy.

Remittance is money the Diaspora send home to support their families, which in turn becomes a source of foreign currency for the government of their home countries. But the Diaspora have no diplomatic clout to influence public policy through political process in their home countries, because they are detached from their homeland. For example, withholding their remittances to put pressure on the government means exposing their own families to hardship.

Some of the smartest countries in the world have organized their Diaspora communities and turned them into key stakeholders that invest their hard earned money in the development of their home countries. This can only happen when there is peace and stability in the home country. Ethiopia should strive for peace if its Diaspora communities were to contribute to the development of their homeland.

Ethiopian diaspora is an incriminated mob, it has implicated itself in the crime of shedding the blood of those poor they left behind. They are direct sponsors and indirect enablers of terrorists that are robbing and maiming the poor that have just toiled the land but nothing else. After Shane, Faandoo, currently some elements in Tigray (I am not sure if it is part of the TPLF or not) there can never be any excuse, all are just robbing the community they came from and maiming their youngsters, while the Ethiopian diaspora is the direct enablers of these human scums.

I have to agree with you here, it is getting clearer and clearer as the days go on, at least to some level (your exaggeration aside). I observed this very fact before few years and took my time to scribble my thoughts in order to defend my people, specially the mothers and sisters who are being robbed and raped today by the mob that the diaspora is financing.
