For a while, I was baffled by all that hollow bravado. What is making these beggars screech like a cornered rat? It made no sense. But then things began to make sense when the AU scheduled a meeting to assess progress of the PA.
If there is one word that describes TPLF since the war ended it is paralysis. Nothing could have better demonstrated that paralysys than the 70 days meeting. TPLF has been shown to be an impotent and incompetent gang of brigands. Tigrayans have come to despise the gang and it looked like it wasn't going to be far before we see Debretsion and co. swinging. So it seems like the 70 day wrangling came up with a plan of ho to save TPLF. All the noise of the past two months was to make Tigrayans believe that TPLF is alive and not willing to compromise. Many Agames began to inflate their chests when the demand for negotiations through intermediaries was met. And now that TPLF has been told by AU and observers that Badme is gone for good, that the "contested" territories will be settled through referenda, and that TPLF needs to disarm, what other choice do the thugs have than comply. The only grace from their view will be that Agames will now resign themselves that they were forced by America to accept defeat. Agames are more concerned about their face than their a.ss: You can drill all you want their back-side as long as you leave their face alone. And the drama of the past three months was thus to give them a face-saving exit!
