One of Abiy's main arguments why Ethiopia needs access to the sea is
exploding population and economic underdevelopment makes possession of a port a necessity. So how is access to sea supposed to solve that problem? Perhaps Abiy has a formula to turn sea water into petroleum? Ethiopia has rich lands, abundant waters and huge labour force, yet a quarter of its people are still dependent on food aid. Abiy has no answer why that should be so. What is missing? Abiy says millions of people will migrate to Eritrea, Djibouti and Somalia. And the solution to avert that is for Ethiopia to have its own ports. Is it a bath in sea water that Ethiopians want badly. I know the man is not smart. But still, the arguments he presents should make sense to at least a five year old child. What Ethiopians need is peace to be able to solve their economic woes. It is not endless wars. Regimes stronger than Abiy's tried to keep Eritrea and failed. How the defeated Abiy thinks he can succeed where Mengistu failed is something that he should be required to answer.
