1_All what Ron Paul (Paulos wedi Ere, beAl common sense) said is correct but the problem is more complicated than that.
2_It is true the likes of Zbigniew Brzeziński -- the great intellectual who once said that we, Eritreans, didn 't get the sympathy and support that we deserved to get from the international community in our fight for freedom and independence -- were to a great extent responsible for the so-called " Islamic revivalism '/ jihadism in the Arab and Islamic world.
An interesting point to make here : when Zbigniew Brzezinski visited Afghanistan for the first time one of the Jihadist leaders posing as a friend of the United States and its capitalist system addressed him with something to the effect : the Communists in Afghanistan talk about equality while our religion tells that your situation ( poor or rich ) is determined by Allah. / In other words : Communists act against the will of Allah and the Afghani tradition that is why it is religiously acceptable to fight and defeat the Communists with the support of the capitalist Western world. /
