Eritrea gained independence from Ethiopia following 30 years of civil war. Another 30 years later, Eritreans are still not free, as Afwerki, who had led much of the liberation war, gradually showed his true colors as an oppressive dictator and ruthless butcher!


Afwerki's abuse of power has pushed Eritrea into isolation, leading to two-thirds of the country living below the poverty line!

Afwerki had become firmly focused on consolidating power under his leadership. "So, his 30 years in power have been just for himself."
