US wants to stop Eritrea giving the Russians military base in Asseb and TPLF is trusted to fulfill their aim of US controlling the red sea by either by engaging forceful regime change in Eritrea in collaboration with Abiy or annexing Asseb (US argument is denying 100 million Ethiopians was a serious mistake)

TPLF convinced the Abiy regime the Amharas must be neutralized as they are ally with Eritrea to overthrow him and take revenge on Tigrayes and oromos.
