We need to see the following in a perspective when we talk about Welkait and Raya .



- Historically even prior to 1991 more than 90 % of people in Welkait have been Tigrayans

- The majority of people from Raya have been also Tigrayans ( may be more than 80 % )

- Tigray gave a land bigger than Welkait and Raya combined to the formation of the Afar state.

There are no Tigrean originals in Welqait or Raya; they were just settlers came from central Tigray and other depressed regin of Tigray. Why do you think the people of Welqait and Raya fought your Weyane for 30 years saying Welqait is Amara, Raya is Amara? Now, the settlers are expelled and those lands are back to the owners permanently!!
