Mereje Forum is the dancing ground of the inconsequential

Post by Wardoffa » 10 Mar 2022, 13:59

No Oromo voice and just the echo chamber of the inconsequential. If Oromos are in power and you don't like it, secession is the answer. If you are disgruntled, without Oromo protests Abiy is not going anywhere. Start #AmharaProtests (Bahir Dar) and #TegaruProtests (Mekelle) and see where it goes

My recent visit to Ethiopia has shown me that the Diaspora are a joke having a reverse gratifications syndrome of basking in the pain of people back home by subtly comparing/enjoying their lives abroad. This vanity is hard to beat as we have been brought up in a society where miqegninet is engrained in our DNAs. Power has devolved in such a decentralized and irreversible way the only option is to accept and move on. Don’t be fooled that you’re making positive change while wallowing in the cesspool of the mindset we grew up in. Even for a Galla like me, it is a daily struggle to be above that.

Havent you said this forum is a "chamber of the inconsequential." Why bother scribbling down your mournful blah blah, which no one seems to pay attention to, on it!

Do you think by reinventing yourself under another username you would be to pass for a comprehensible new forumer! No chance!

I didn’t mean to ruffle some feathers by opining my viewpoint. Anyway the fact that you’re inconsequential doesn’t mean I can’t learnt something from you. But point is assuming someone’s identity is so 2018. Now we’re on a plane political landscape with obliterated hierarchy. I may agree or dislike it but -That is what PP is demolishing in Ethiopian psych - open the palace and make it reachable but not something to die for, opening internet to let people vent out frustration so no muzzled/suffocated mass bulges which are precursors of revolt, diffusing line between gov and opposition, reversing gov hand out of people’s lives to create impression of freedom… Add on that our Galla inclusive and egalitarian psych of “live and let live” which is hard to beat. So when I see pre-2018 Mereja forumers
running in circle, I felt obliged to throw my two cents.

If you've been browsing the contents posted on this forum since you became a member, then you should know that this forum is the wrong place to come to learn something from others, unless your meaning for "learning" differs from the one in the conventional dictionary!

Relatively decent debates used to take on this forum about 10 years or so ago. But since it has literally become a place where some, like me, come to kill some spare time, and others to advertise their village and charge at anyone who shows disagreement, or simply try to ambush and strike their imaginary enemies, while a few use it to post the storyline of their hallucinations and daydreaming for fear of being ridiculed had they been telling it to people in a face-to-face conversation!

I really appreciate your magnanimity and underlying humanness in seeing through what is important. I’ve been checking the forum here and there and have seen it get worse (partly due to the trajectory/nature of the political debate on the ground as well). And then the war came and one can imagine how dizzying if not blinding wars can be. You can see the one-sided propaganda and shrilling screams all sides delve in. As much as there had been numerous issues that could be debated and pointed about the current government, the ALL OR NONE Ethiopian political psych as well as the knee jerk action that the only change desired is a radical/regime change paradigm by the disgruntled has eliminated chances of sane debates. Ironically, this ALL OR NONE attitude and seeking radical change greatly [deleted] and entrenched the Lencho/Abiy coalition beyond what they could have dreamt when they set of in 2018. See what a monstrosity of an army/intelligence and client bourgeoise they coined using the war as a vehicle. So you’re right all the debates are quick solution seeking of regime change which missed the real debates giving Abiy a lifeline for foreseeable foreseeable future. Don’t get me wrong, power has shifted but not for the worse. My concern is that down the road abuse of power might not occur and beyond being equal, individuals may not abuse it. Aside from that the 120 Years of Solitude of the Galla marginalization must materialize and for just reasons.
