Can you lie your way to a moral upper hand?

Post by justo » 16 Feb 2022, 23:26

How do you gain a moral upper hand? Why, you do it the old fashioned way, by earning it. By behaving.
But can you lie your way to a moral upper hand the way Tigrai is trying to do? Can you do evil and still gain a moral upper hand by lying? Why are they even trying?

Why is Tigray lying about us to us? I'd understand if they were to lie about us to their people, or lie about us to the west. But why lie about us to us?

Lying to yourself about yourself is understandable, as some sort of defence mechanism to protect a fragile ego
Lying about yourself to others is also understandable, if you want to put yourself in a better limelight than actually is true
But lying to others about themselves does not make any sense all, can Eden or sarcasm enlighten us about the potential benefits of this strategy

Justo,

I'm afraid you're asking the wrong question based on the wrong assumption(s). I couldn't come up with any explanation to your query, for your presuppositions are predicated on our moral values and distinct concepts of the language of good and evil, which are completely alien to the Tigrian values. As an illustration, here is a clip from this brave Tigrian lady. Just take 5 minutes and It would give you a glimpse to the culture and psyche of that society........ Hope you're proficient enough in Amharic to understand what she says.

Cheers!

Here's my two cents.

If there are any people in the world who don't buy into agame's lies, it is us Eritreans, for we have a lie detector embedded in our genetic code-- a natural-mechanism that gets activated each time we hear agames' lies that get rejected outright. If the inferior agame get to hear their own lies repeated by an Eritrean, they hit the jackpot! It is this endless quest for validation that drives the agame to keep lying to those who naturally don't accept lies, let alone lies about themselves.

To illustrate this point further using a real life example, one of my colleagues at work who is originally from India was pleasantly surprised to learn that a white colleague could actually speak Punjabi, as he had lived in India as an exchange student years ago. Every time he spoke to her in Punjabi, however broken, her would face lit up with excitement, for it is a universal human desire to be acknowledged by others, and people in general appreciate it when you make an effort to speak their native language.

By the same token, since agame live a life that is laced with lies, they would do anything just to hear their own lies played back to them in a foreign dialect or accent, even if that means telling the same lies over and over hoping someone would accidentally repeat it. It is this intense feeling of inadequacy, otherwise known as inferiority complex, which leads agames to lie about Eritreans to Eritreans.

I totally agree, bro Q. You cannot assume normal ethics in trying to understand unethical behaviour. Part of my question was indeed rhetorical, to put a limelight on that weird behaviour without expecting a sensible explanation.

What is fascinating regarding this behaviour is though the progress that takes place down the line. Bear with me bro Q, I'll paint a scenario.

I accuse you of stealing 400 000 dollars I never had. Initially, I cannot really be angry, because no loss was incurred as no money was stolen. Then few weeks down the line, I start feeling genuinely indignant because I have become poor as a result of losing money I never had, and genuinely angry of money I never lost. The brain accepts the simulation and starts spitting out real emotions. At that point, sensible communication becomes impossible with such a person.

Sarcasm / Eden in Belgium shouting at Redwan Hussien and Ahmed Shide was surreal. After all those things Tigray did in Amhara and Afar regions in broad daylight, it should have been they who shouted at Sarcasm and not the other way round. Weird stuff indeed, bro Q
Cheers!
