He was an expert con man. I was one of his victims. Even during the 1997 election when some emotional Ethiopians rated him as the Ethiopian Mandela, I knew the guy was highly overrated. But I have never taken some conscious Ethiopians’ warning seriously : he was a mole.
Yes, he was highly overrated I argued with my friend’s brother, but not TPLF in disguise. Now, I do. The only opposition politician who had built a magnificent hotel while he was a leader of an opposition party, the only opposition political leader that I knew who got permission to pursue his education overseas, and visit European countries was only Lidetu.
Now, he found himself exposed. Now, most Ethiopians believe him to be a guy who has no soul, who is open to be bought by anyone who has the right money. He knows he will not crawl back to get Ethiopians’ sympathy. He knew the trust between him and Ethiopians has been severely broken. Time to reveal his real identity with a twist. He now openly advocates the TPLF political line without the slightest hesitation. Is that because he is attention seeker ? Yes, he craves attention but that is not the reason he has plastered himself constantly in TPLF friendly social media. He is doing it hoping TPLF will survive and be a future political force. He is badly mistaken. Despite his exaggeration of his understanding of Ethiopian politics, he has no the vaguest idea the political direction the country is taking.
