Re: ‘Ignorance or naiveté’: How the world failed to foresee the fall from grace of Ethiopia’s Abiy Ahmed
Aba,
Do they mean the rest of world failed "to-foresee" the "genius" of Dr. Abiy?
What's amazing for me above everything else is, how TPLF fails to see that it's on the verge of going down the drain!
Be that as it be, I see the following as good points in this article:
"Unlike Nelson Mandela, who had shown the political wisdom to take just political power – and leave the reckoning of the economic grievances for another day, Abiy had overreached. He not only took political power – and then turned against those who put him in power – but also went after their economic interests, particularly those of Tigrayan elites who had dominated Ethiopian politics since the toppling of the brutal dictator Hailemariam Mengistu in 1991 and used their political ascendency to secure lucrative businesses and other assets."
"Davison suspects ......... Abiy had assured Afwerki that his old enemy, the TPLF, would no longer be a dominant force in Ethiopian politics, or even that it would be completely eradicated."
"Davison does not blame Abiy entirely for the falling-out and then the war with the TPLF. He also accuses the latter of “pure constitutional brinkmanship. By rejecting the authority of the federal institution, they came up with their own provocative reading of the constitution which pushed, or at least gave the opportunity to those at the centre, to cast the region and the ruling party of Tigray as unacceptably defiant of the constitutional order – as a rogue region, a state within a state seeking to return to federal power. This was a major contributor to the civil war."”
"And so he is not optimistic about current international mediation efforts because the international community had not only missed some opportunities, but had also lost credibility in the process with both Abiy and many of those now fighting him."
"The only chance for a “smooth landing” in the conflict is for Ethiopians themselves to do what the international community failed to do"
In the following, Dessu of Mehal Meda is having a field day with Dr. Debre's mumbling!
መደምሰስ፣ ደምሳሹ፣ ደብረፅዮን! Hilarious!

What this article forgets is that the criminal monster has a lot more to do with what Mamo qillo ended up doing: overreach his capacity and lose his power for good, not to mention his name dragged into the mud like despots and war criminals. All this shows is that the fool is a con artist like Issu jillo, an untrustworthy snake just like the monster. He faked to be a Pente; faked to be an Oromo; faked to be a doctor and,, worst of all,, faked to be a Noble Peace Prize worthy candidate. He fooled everybody,, including himself,, telling himself he was meant to be king.

I disagree! Abiy's weakness is hoping against hope! He still hasn't given up on TPLF. Frankly, by enlarge others Ethiopians had already.
I understand, for TPLFites like you such thinking makes the PM "Mamo qillo"! You don't get it!
Today, Ethio360 Habtamu puts what I am trying to explain eloquently. Ermias explains it further; for me, I take it as Dr. Abiy still hoping his old friends in TPLF may turn around. If they don't, trust me, no other leader would tolerate as much as he!
He's your last hope!

You don't get it. Abiy aka Mamo qillo is a junior partner in crime in this situation. The major criminal clinging to Abiy’s palace is Issu, the monster. As soon as Issu buckles under TDF military pressure and int'l scrutiny/ pressure and decides to vacate Arat kilo, the war will be over and Mamo will head to his own Zimbabwe. The parasite sucking the blood of Ethiopia is shaebia which has zombified Abiy and his junta to their detriment. It will soon be over.Dawi wrote: ↑16 Nov 2021, 04:07Aba,Aba wrote: ↑15 Nov 2021, 18:02What this article forgets is that the criminal monster has a lot more to do with what Mamo qillo ended up doing: overreach his capacity and lose his power for good, not to mention his name dragged into the mud like despots and war criminals.
