Extraordinary Situations Require Extraordinary Measures

Post by DefendTheTruth » 01 Oct 2021, 03:06

It is not a simple matter and the time is not the kind of the average time we used to have so far. We have made many decisions, which need to be supported by a corresponding and well designed actions to bear fruitions.

It is not the usual way of sitting idle and expecting somebody else to do the required jobs. If you are expecting the government to do all the needed jobs to get us overcome the current challenge facing our country, then you are letting down your own country and its people.

I have said last time on this forum we have the option of either making history or made history.

Ethiopia has taken bold steps and expelled some actors who opted to meddle in the internal affairs of the country, in contravention with the rules and regulations of the UN itslef. Now their propagand machine is relaying the news and depicting the country as a another pariah state, already.

The fight has began, we have the option to defend our country and preserve Ethiopia as the true pioneer of liberty and freedom of the black race of the globe or deprived our proud history and made a renegade generation that didn't stand up to fight for what it should have done.

Everyone is not a diplomat but each and everyone of us have got a role to play in contributing towards the defence of our country, each capable citizen of the nation has got a duty to fulfil towards the defense of his/her country.

Mobilize the citizens and start to organise them at the grassroots so that each and everyone of us can start to do something towards the stated goal. There are many things that we can do, the country needs the efforts of each and everyone of us.

- If you can't do much about anything else, then you can definitely do in coming together and clean your surroundings, pave the roads for your respective villages or neighborhoods, you can support those in need, probably can help in providing a potable water supply for a village, help farmers gather their harvests in time. The list can be long but this is just to tell that there is something everyone of us can accomplish for our people and their country.

A mobilized and well-organized citizen can make a great difference. When I talk about organisation I am not talking about a centralized mega organisation at the national, regional or provincial levels, rather at the grassroots level, around a set of central guiding principles of the goal of the organization.

In the 21st century world socio-political, economic and other aspects of human endeavors of the world unorganized people are doomed to lose the fight. Organize and orgnaize and organize again.

We have the option to make history or being made history, the choice is ours. Empty bravado will never bring us an inch forward, our words should be supplemented by our deeds/actions.

Horus,

I am writing in english just to be able to type somewhat faster, I have to get used to the Amharic typewriter. Reading what others have written doesn't bother me at all.

I scribbled my message here after watching a news about Ethiopia and the expulsion of some actors due to their meddling on a major TV broadcaster and saying "Ethiopia is getting into major diplomatic crisis" (which could be true or not). If it is a crisis, then be that as it may, Ethiopia has to defend itself like any other nation around the world would do in such a situation.

I am not worried about the doomsday scenario of external agents.

My message here is about one thing and that is all about coming out of the "crisis" stronger, that is when we would say we have won over all adversaries decisively. Next time they will draw their lessons for somewhere else from our precedence.

I am not aggitating about supporting the government here, I am only calling on all citizens to do their part to contribute towards overcoming all challenges and pave the way for a more secure and prosperous future for our country, giving a better prospective to its young generation. Here we should be able to think beyond Abiy Ahmed and beyond the party that is in power in the country today, it is more about our future, the continuity of what Emperor Menelik or his predecessor have started and what will remain a job in progress all the time.

I am aware of the mobilization on the defense and security sector, I think it is no problem to mobilize a large amount of military contingent for a country as big as Ethiopia, but it has also a downside of covering the cost of such a mega military force. It has to be covered by taking resources from other sectors and that will be felt in the economy sooner or later.

America assumed Ethiopia is just like Syria, Iraq, Yemen or Libia, I hope that the policy makers of that nation has taken a note by now about the flaw in their thinking pattern.

They can cut their aid, but for that we need to get prepared and be in a position to tell them "we don't need your aid" boldly, one more time.

When I say every body has got a role to fulfil then I don't really mean those already in some kind of deployment like those in the military, Police, other public service sector employees and individuals who are already doing their best. I am talking about the rest of us.

Everyone of us may have got our own demands or wishes from the government and that is also clear. That is also why we need to have get organized and make our own contributions and raise our demands at the same time starting at the grassroot level.

For the government to listen to you you need to get empowered and to get empowered you need to get organized. So, in my view, there is no an alternative to get organised according our respective interests and affiliations, I think. Those who are unorganized are already losing in the competitive world order.

Horus,

One more reason why organisation is vital (is a pre condition) to do something effective, it ensures an accountability in the tasks we envisage to undertake for a common goal.

The following example.

I came across the call to contribute some funds for the members of the military victims at around the start of the Woyane war around the end of last year in the internet and decided to make a donation for the cause. I think it was based on voluntary initiatives of the organisers, I was receiving some updates on the status of the fund.

At one point I also received a message informing about some irregularities in the processing of the fund, derailing the delivering to the intended target, I think. I don't have much detail about the issue. The fund was around 355.882 $, according to the status on the page.

I have been the opinion that in order to effectively do something then accountability is vital. If there was an organised body to take this initiative to execute the task, then no one will ever succeed in disrupting the community initiatives. People were acting just spontaneously to help the cause they believed in while others were looking for an opportunity to pursue their own interest at the cost of the mass. Now the spoilers succeeded and we will be refraining the next time such a call would be made.

I always think organizing is a precondition for doing something collaboratively and effectively.

I remembered this point after I came across the following information of Seyoum Teshome.

Here is the fund he is talking about, I have received multiple emails informing me about the status, as a contributor.
