Ethiopian Troops Indiscriminate Mortar, Rocket, and Artillery Fire

Since early 2007 in the conflict in Mogadishu Ethiopian troops have regularly and indiscriminately fired upon populated residential neighborhoods of Mogadishu. Mortars, "Katyusha" rockets, and artillery have been used with such little precision that those firing them have no reasonable expectation of striking any military target or avoiding civilian casualties. Human Rights Watch first documented the patterns and the devastating impact on civilians, Over the past two years, hundreds of thousands of people have fled their homes because of the fighting. At least 16,000 civilians have been killed, Those who deliberately or recklessly ordered such indiscriminate attacks should be held accountable for war crimes.

Two years ago Mogadishu already bore the scars of 16 years of intermittent warfare. But it was still in many ways a vibrant city-economically, culturally, and politically. The bloodshed of the past two years has done what the prior 16 years of statelessness and strife could not.

The West does not want to disintegrate or invade Ethiopia. The West cares about the integrity of Ethiopia for various reasons. Ethiopia is one of the largest countries among the rest of Africa, and it wields some level of influence on African Countries. Second, Ethiopia is multi-cultural, rich in history, and most important, its populations are not extremists. Third. The West had very good relations with Ethiopia for the last century. Fourth, Ethiopia is very close to the RedSea, and it is supposed to stabilize the turbulent horn of Africa as well as Middle Eastern countries. Ethiopia is surrounded by smaller countries that are less stable such as your very own Somalia. Although, Somalia is far more stable than Ethiopia at the moment. Djibouti and Somali Land have done really well when it comes to stability. Kenya is very stable. Sudan is going in the right direction. Eritrea is very cool other than the dictatorial government that always breaths on the back of the people. We all have common interest. People like you are a liability.
