With respect to the Amharic people of Ethiopia who sincerely suffer greatly, you'll have to get in line. President Biden is ignoring MANY things! His handlers only allow him to work briefly every day and to attend only one function at most. Presumably he is not well. We're sincerely sorry that he doesn't have the energy, vigor and initiative of his predecessor.

The nearly 200.000 Amhara in the US tend to be educated professionals and people of faith, so they are of no interest to the Biden-Harris regime and thus Ethiopian Amhara are of no interest to the Biden-Harris regime.

I just checked Wikipedia, and it seems Ethiopia has over six dozen languages; and not even the two largest, Oromo and Amharic, individually come anywhere close to a majority of the country's population. In fact, some of these Ethiopian languages, the Nilo-Saharan, aren't even in the same family as the Afroasiatic family that comprises most the Ethiopian languages. One of the few Americans who might have heard of most of these languages is the distinguished linguist Professor John McWhorter; but I doubt we've got very many officers in either State or the military who can speak even one of these Ethiopian languages.
And there's no reason why we should expect our State Department or military to be fluent in any Ethiopian language at all. It's not like we're going to invade and occupy Ethiopia. Or are we!?
Mind our own business. The worst thing we can do is tilt to one side or another. Some American politicians like Bernie Sanders (whom, personally, I rather like) have this crazy notion of "humanitarian" interventionism and think we've got some "responsibility to protect," some R2P -- which is every bit as dangerous as aggressive interventionism designed to steal other countries' natural resources. These well-meaning R2P "humanitarians" rush in without realizing there often aren't any "good" or "bad" guys, and we wind up making a bad situation a whole lot worse.
I'll stick with Tulsi Gabbard on anti-interventionism. It's safer for us and for everyone else.

Ethiopia is a Christian nation surrounded by Muslim countries. Of course Joe doesn't care about them.

Unless they have a significant number of voters of their ethnicity here in the US, Joe isn’t interested...

And one thought racists were only white. Racism and prejudice exist in virtually every place where there are multiple ethnic and religious groups living in proximity. It is a problem that is pretty universal. Racism or prejudice is not dependent on one's genetics.

Look at South Africa. The most violent racist nation on Earth. Gee they destroyed apartheid and replaced it with hell. Democrats need to stay out of everything.

This is the job of the UN. What do we pay the UN for if they do nothing about this and America still needs to help alone? I bet the UN wrote a memo on it though. Maybe even saying America should help more in their memo.

African countries that were once Colonies of European powers have no business blaming the USA for anything. The USA has never had colonies in Africa or anywhere else, and has zero responsibility for anything that occurs in Ethiopia.
The Ethiopian Govt, if they so choose, should contact the United Nations or the International Court of Justice for any support they may need.

I'm not sure how I feel about our potential response to this. On the one hand it's not our country, who are we to interfere? We have our own problems. On the other hand, when atrocities like genocide are being committed, SOMEONE needs to be brave enough to step in and say ENOUGH- we're not havin' this!!
I don't know much about the United Nations, but I can't help but think they are kind of a do-nothing/pat-ourselves-on-the-back/feel-good type of group. I don't think they did anything to help the Tutsis during the Rwandan genocide back in (I think) '94. If all you do is "condemn" it, how and who does that help??

Maybe Omar and the squad will address this issue.

I'd suggest Ilhan Omar look into it immediately and report back. It's time she did something constructive.

The Amhara are a predominately Christian culture under siege in a Muslim continent - doesn't fit the narrative of the current party in power, the administration or the UN.

@ashleyo! Please don't misinform people and distort the true image of the Amhara people. The Amhara people never protested against the U.S. Nor did they threaten to burn the American flag. Only elites, who have mixed blood in Ethiopia and backing the Oromo ethnic led government led by Abiy Ahmad Ali, barked to burn the American flag. So, it was the Oromo led administration led by Abiy Ahmad Ali who threatened to burn the American flag. The Amhara people are predominantly christians with century-old experiences in building their nation and running their state. They are always in good relations with the people of the United States. However, it's true that the Biden administration has a biased evaluation concerning the crisis in Ethiopia.

When the US stops with the worldwide welfare programs... same as here in the US with all the laze-abouts. If you want to give your money to the homeless, less fortunate in the US or elsewhere, great... do so with your wealth but not my tax dollars.
