This is from 9 years ago and I posted it as a reaction to the irresponsible call for war in the region. Those on opposite sides have reversed positions, meaning, those who called for war are now against war and those who were against war are now for war. My position remains the same:
there is no reason for war among brothers.

There is no reason for war between brothers. We already regret the past wars. If there are individuals who believe war is the way to go, let them enlist to be the first to go to the battle fields before anyone else. Let aigaforum.com editors responsible for this article enlist first and foremost. Let them spill their blood before another Eritrean or Ethiopian blood is spilled because of what they preach and instigate.

I call all peace loving Ethiopians and Eritreans to reject such talks from those who are living comfortable lives far away from potential war zones. Let the peace loving people speak up. Bad things happen when good people say and do nothing.

Isaias Afeworki becoming rich and Egypt mad at Ethiopia!

The economist predicts the Eritrean economy will grow next year mainly due to mineral resources. And in Eritrea everything is controlled by the Government including trade thus we can expect the mad man in Eritrea will have more money to spend on covert action to destabilized Ethiopia as well as to arm himself with huge mass destruction arms. On the other hand Egypt is now trying everything in its disposal to thwart Ethiopia’s use of its natural rivers. Recently the Ethiopian Government has said it has evidence that Egypt is supporting anti government forces.

The mad man in Eritrea has been shuttling from Iran to Qatar for help so far but things are looking up for him to cut his trip. Egypt is next door and the Gold rush that is predicted to bring him millions will certainly help him to think big and distract Ethiopia from its Growth and Transformation plan.

We think Ethiopia has benefited a lot over the years with its policy of no war no peace against the Eritrean government but looking forward, with Isaias Afeworki becoming a very rich person and with Egypt dead serious to do everything in its disposal to stop Ethiopia from using its natural rivers and with Sudan certain to break-up come this January so Ethiopia is in need of a new policy towards its belligerent neighbor.

We can easily imagine Egypt using Eritrea as a last resort to derail Ethiopia’s development if its current covert action fails. We can also imagine Isaias Afeworki who is known to be careless about the Eritrean people will do what ever it takes to topple the Ethiopian government. That is what we project. What about you? Have your say! Should the Ethiopian government change policy or continue as is?

Yes, Eden, war should not be a choice : people lives will be lost, economic stagnation, if not decline follows it. Yours truly believe however war is a continuation of politics by other means. Yes, I support the war — in the language of Abiy a mission to bring to justice those who ordered the killing of Ethiopian soldiers while they were sleeping — believing it must get rid off one serious problem Ethiopia has : the political ignorance of the TPLF leaders.
Political ignorance is not a problem by itself. Yes, TPLF is as clueless about Ethiopian politics in 2020, as it was in 1970. That is not a problem. Yours truly believe in people right to stay indefinitely stupid.
What yours truly cannot tolerate for a second however is when that stupidity being a cause for hundreds of poor Ethiopians lives being lost.
If we agree there is a just war, we undoubtedly agree , at least I hope, the one Abiy found himself to be part of it is the very example one.
Yes, Abiy should keep going until the cancer of Ethiopian politics is removed . No Ethiopian leader was given an opportunity to surgically remove that cancer as Abiy has been. He will not let that opportunity be lost.
