TARNISHED NOBEL PEACE PRIZE: ETHIOPIA HAS GONE BACK TO ITS OLD WAYS OF STATE-INSTIGATED TERROR & CIVIL WARS ARE LOOMING (GERMAN MEDIA)
Nobel Prize Winner Abiy Ahmed Lost the peace course.
PS: This report appeared on a top German Newspaper & Media House named: "tagesschau". The following is a rough translation of the same into English. You can see the German version by following the link below.
In Oslo today it will be announced who will receive the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. Abiy Ahmed received an award last year. The Ethiopian head of government has now come under pressure from many sides.
Not far from the seat of government of Ethiopia's Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, excavators are rolling. A previously unused piece of land is to be turned into a large park. There is already a fountain with water features. The fountains dance up and down to the beat of a patriotic hit with the simple title "Ethiopia".
The park is one of those projects that Abiy Ahmed is promoting to beautify the capital. Some think he should tackle more important things. "This has no priority over other things," assures his spokeswoman. "I mean the security situation or the legislation, for example. But the Prime Minister is working on it at the same time."
Peace with Eritrea is not progressing
There are many construction sites that Abiy Ahmed has to take care of a year after receiving the Nobel Peace Prize. He was honored above all for the peace agreement with Eritrea, with which Ethiopia had fought bloody conflicts for decades.
Abiy went to the neighboring country after taking office. He wanted partnership instead of enmity. But it doesn't look like a real new beginning, says East Africa expert William Davidson of the International Crisis Group think tank: "Bilateral ties have been established and diplomatic relations have been resumed. Communication and transport routes have been opened up."
But beyond that, there has not been much progress: "There are no trade agreements and there are still military posts almost everywhere at the borders." Abiy Ahmed doesn't seem to be pushing any further rapprochement. He is now busy with other conflicts.
Internal conflicts shake Ethiopia
Ethiopia has built a large dam on the Blue Nile. Egypt in particular reacts with clear displeasure. Cairo even threatened military action. All rounds of negotiations so far have failed.
And the domestic political situation in Ethiopia is also coming to a head. Protests escalated in early July after the death of a well-known singer. Hachalu Hundessa was considered the voice of the Oromo, the largest ethnic group that has long felt oppressed. He was shot dead in the capital Addis Ababa. Many believed the murder was committed in connection with an interview in which Hundessa criticized the prime minister. 200 people died in confrontations that lasted for days.
Well-known terror methods of former rulers
Abiy Ahmed seemed to resort to the methods of his predecessors during the conflicts. Thousands of people have now been arrested again after releasing en masse political prisoners early in his term in office. "Opposition leaders will have to stand trial," says William Davidson. "We have to wait to see what evidence is presented there and whether the judiciary is independent."
But there are fears that opposition members will again be persecuted for political reasons, as was previously the case under the ruling party, says Davidson. The prime minister has also been criticized for postponing the parliamentary elections. Actually, the vote should be at the end of August, but due to the corona pandemic, it shouldn't be that far until next year.
Political opponents are already saying that the head of government is illegally staying in office. Abiy Ahmed tries to justify his course. In his speech on the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, he complained of great opposition to changing existing conditions and creating social justice. "Nevertheless, we continue to pursue the necessary goal of democratizing Ethiopia."
Last year, the Nobel Prize Committee described the award as an incentive to continue on the course that has been taken. So far Ahmed still has to prove whether he really wants to and can do it.

Really?
For the majority of Us Oromos, other Ethiopians, the entire horn, Africa and the world the PM's Nobel Peace Prize is glittering and shining more and more by each passing days. Yes, for you and the power seeking greedy tplf octogenarian habitual shooters and looters it looks tarnished because the tarnish is between their two ears within their own brain but not outside and on the ground. Just keep sitting there like an evil fat duck and pray bad luck for the transformational and forgiving Prime Minister while a bad stone may drop on your ducky back before you can take back the tplf bunch of sack to Menelik's new lunch park.
Tplf and its bully mentors from the neighboring Misir have been spreading blind violence and barbaric chaos in Oromia the beautiful and Ethiopia the charming champion just for the purpose of deliberately trying to tarnish the great award but failed miserably when every one showed them their middle fingers. Don't get obsessed with tplf funded yellow fake pamphlets based on coffee house gossips and street corner fantasy story telling.
If groups and individuals were released from the tplf jails and concentration camps promising to follow non violent pecaeful struggles but turned around 360 degrees choosing and engaging in constant violent activities, killings, robing, intimidation, etc. as a means of violently power grabbing, then what makes you think that the government can not and should not apply any strong counter terror and counter violence activities in order to secure peace and tranquility for the broad based ordinary citizens? We have only one country together and in common.
Such a country needs to be governed and ruled by a single government at a time. No need for suspicious and crazy war lords of any color and language confusing the ill informed and the emotional segment of the society.
How can some people become so envious and and so jealous as to reduce themselves to the level of the notorious biblical Judas who got consumed with envy and jealousy and went to sell his own friend for a shamefully miserable 30 silver coins but then after the event got ashamed, depressed and committed suicide.
Many thanks for the Federalist network forces for their balanced, responsible and realistic behavior in which they have directly condemned the tplf exposing its white lies and nonsensical vulgarism falsely and repeatedly claiming that the tplf is a member and the boss of the federalists.
All of these running around and ranting spreading fake news and advocating the non existence of Ethiopian government and wishing for the multiplicity of endless numbers of agitated roaming petty gang leaders similar to that of Syria, Libya, Yemen, Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia, etc. where children, mothers, fathers, the youth, etc. face brutalities and inhumanities now and fore the foreseeable future.
