It is TPLF who liberated Eritrea from Dergue.
Eritrea's participation in Ethiopia's war of liberation from the military regime led by Mengistu was minimal. TPLF allowed Eritrean units to be in Ethiopia to keep an eye on Eritrea. Eritrea was carrying out subversive activities against TPLF. EPLF blocked the route to Sudan in 1980 so that TPLF had to clear West Tigray from Dergue and make it's own route.

EPLF of Eritrea was anti-Ethiopia and anti-Tigray. TPLF should have annihilated EPLF and take control of Eritrea by forming a friendly organisation that co-operates with Tigray and Ethiopia. This did not happen for a reason. Eritrea will have to be disbanded and a friendly government installed in Asmara.
