YikunoAmlak's son, Abune Gebrechristos, built a monastery in Axum Awraja 65 kms SE, along with Romes' Abune Melketsedeq.
Abune Gebrechristos/Abune Christos came to Axum becoz his mother queen Lilte-weyin was from Axum, a place called Mahbere-Diego. Abune Christos did not want to compete with his greedy brothers who were fighting against each other to inherit their father's crown. Abune Christos YikunoAmlak therefore came to Axum to be a monk and went to a remote place in Axum Awraja, South East of the city of Axum, and within Axum Awraja he found a sacred heavily forested remote place called Dagna, which is now called Mahdere Gedam Ze Abune christos Dagna, where he built a historic 14th century monastery along with Melke Tsedeq and other saintly abunes known as tsadqan. Besides many Tsadqans such as Abune Melketsedeq, Abune Fanuel, Abune Henock and Abune Christos Yikunoamlak, the colorful 18th century Tigrean Lord-of-Lords Ras-Reusan Sehul MIchael, who was born and raised in Dagna itself, is buried in this historic Dagna monastery of Abune Christos.
