Gedu is a foreign minister. Usually, a foreign minister goes everywhere to conduct foreign affairs of a given country. A foreign minister is not the bodyguard of a prime minister. As Eritrea and Ethiopia is concerned , they have identical policy regarding East Africa let alone the two countries. Abiy is not going to Asmara to make negotiation rather to refine what they already agreed upon. Why Redwan accompanied him ? If I remember correctly he used to be the Ethiopian ambassador to Eritrea. That means he personally had face to face encounter with Isayes. That indeed makes the refinement process even smooth.

You are right in on one thing. Redwan was in Asmera for more than a year. But for some reason Isaias never accepted or recognized his Ethiopian ambassadorship to Eritrea. after one year stay in Asmera without playing any role at an ambassador level, he returned back.
