Grand Bargain among the Elite is needed to reach a Negotiated Settlement

Post by Eripoblikan » 04 Jul 2020, 03:29

We have seen too many times it is the average person on the ground that pays for the mistakes of the elite. At the same time, the elites are needed to provide direction to their constituencies and guide them to a better future.

It is expected of the elite to swallow their ego and tone down their emotions and ENTER THE GRAND BARGAIN in a spirit of reconciliation and healing. Under the right atmosphere, robust give-and-take discussions should result in an optimum middle-ground solution that provides political stability which in turn results in economic prosperity.

Shalom!

AgamePoblican,

You seem to waving the white flag. Have you finally realized that the TPLF thugs are going to be eradicated soon? All this talk of reconciliation is not going anywhere. No one negotiates or reconciles with criminals who murder innocent people.

It's imperative all refrain from know-it-all perspective and listen to the other side attentively. This enables one to see that the opposing side has real concerns as oneself.

So the key themes are discussion, give-and-take, listening to other's concerns.

Good luck!

You see right there in your reply the mindset of conflict that's been ravaging the Horn of Africa: false bravado that thinks military victories are the be-all end-all solutions.

REFUSING TO NEGOTIATE IS NOT A SIGN OF COURAGE.

Remember such stubborness is what led Colonel Mengistu to the path of destruction. Millions of people were affected by his choice of path.

Remember also your hero saying we won't negotiate with Ethiopia unless they vacate Badme and its environs. After 20 years of war, sanctions and destruction, he's talking to Ethiopian leaders and we don't have Badme yet.
