The Suez Canal wasn’t built 40 years ago. It was built in 1869 which is 150+ years back.
In 1973, about 47 years ago, the Egyptian government closed the Suez Canal by purposefully destroying and submerging boats in order disrupt the energy supply to Europe. That is known in history as “the Suez crisis”. It was a retaliation for the 6 days war aka “አንድ ለአስራ ሰባት". Because the entire Arab world fought in the war. Which was a failure for the Arab world.
